Transformers: Age Of Extinction

#1 Post by RAZORBACK » Fri Jul 18, 2014 11:23 am

Couldn't find a discussion thread for this :confused: :

I really liked the first film but thought the two sequels that followed were very disappointing indeed.

Although this was better than the previous two films it still wasn't anything special, it started out okay but after a while the endless fight sequences & car chases just felt repetitive so by the time the dinobots made an appearance I was feeling pretty jaded and wasn't able to appreciate their scenes as much as I would have done had the film been significantly shorter.

Overall it's not the worst film I've seen this year (not by a long shot) so despite it faults I think it did just enough to get a 6/10 from me...

BLADEFRONT has returned, after a long overdue break, and unfortunately TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION didn't stroll back in fresh. http://www.film-news.co.uk/show-review. ... ItemID=998

4 out of 10.

I thought there was a discussion thread already but could only see this one

Saw this this morning in a Showcase cinema. Surprised whilst in the queue that everyone p*y full whack for this even though they could save money with an insider card.

I enjoyed this. Tad long but loved seeing Hong Kong in the background even though it was less than half the film. 7/10

Yinster I always find the same with Showcase and the Insider card. Did you get your stamp for the free tickets if you saw it in 3D? (I had to ask for the prize draw card others didn't get it or know about it)

I saw it last week in 3D. I'm not a fan of 3D overall and I wouldn't say it brought anything extra to movie. Yes I agree about the lengh if it was cut shorter i'd like it more.
Over the moon they kept Jack with his Irish accent. Okay I admit he might have been prime reason for a peeked intreast in this movie. I had given up on Transformers although this was an improvement it still isn't great by all means but better than the previous two.

Walked out after about 70-80 mins, absolutely awful film, only dozen in the screening and that had dwindled down to half dozen before I'd left!!
Upcoming films want to see;
Top Gun Maverick
MI 7 & 8
The Many Saints of Newark
Ghostbusters : Afterlife

Best films seen recently;
Tenet
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
In The Heights
A Quiet Place 2

You'd have thought the first 3 movies might have give those 7 people an inkling what to expect.

Nope I didn't but then I saw the film in 2D cos I had a couple of vouchers. My OH doesn't like 3D as it does nothing for the extra money spent. Guy before me p*y £25.60 for the 3D version with extra legroom seats and a pair of glasses.

This was much better than the other sequels though not as good as the first one with Megan Fox. I recognised Jack from Delivery Man when he had an American accent.

feeling miffed not seeing GoG tonight so thought I'd mention AoE. tbh this was pretty pap as per the usual fare. Whats with the effort to cast the worst cast you can manage in these Transformers movies? Peltz? good grief she makes Whalberg look Shakespearean. Thought - why not just trim out the family scenes and congeal the hardcore special effects into one film under 2 hours? It would be an improved film too!

But about 60% of the special effects make it worth sitting through, with the big scenes being built around a Death Star type mothership and a Dragon this time. And no Shia LeBouf, that's another step in the right direction. Perhaps Transformers 5 will finally be the one that's decent.

Really an IMAX film. Hopefully they will rerun it in IMAX shortly after GoG has died down a bit, since some of the effects demand the biggest screen.

writing this has actually not made me feel better about missing GoG.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

Surprised more wasn't made of it's IMAXness. Unlike say Gravity which became synonymous with it this was actually made for the format so was obviously more impressive.
