The Nut Job

#1 Post by McG » Thu Jul 31, 2014 10:09 pm

Saw this in a slightly more than half full Cineworld, Glasgow. I was surprised it was not busier given the school holidays though there were some travel difficulties this morning due to the cycle road race at the Commonwealth Games.
The film started off really well and certainly had the children chuckling right from the start. My 3 year old great neice and 5 year old great nephew were sitting right in front of me with their mum and dad. I was sitting with teddybear1 and 10 year old neice.
Teddybear1 and I had a few chuckles at things the children didn't but we could observe how children of different ages reacted to the film, particularly as they are the target audience! I must admit the animation is bright and colourful but my interest did wane a little in the middle. Some of the characters were very good but didn't really develop a great deal. 50% of the audience left during the credits which included some animation and 90% had gone before the final post credit scene . . .not much in the final scene but does tie up the story. I do think that more could have been made of the film but it was still an entertaining way to spend a Thursday morning. I don't think I would have liked to p*y to see it though! :p
Marks 5.5/10
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley

Thought this was okay but nothing special, it didn't really drag time wise but as there wasn't anything particularly memorable in terms of the story & characters it only did enough to get a 6/10 from me...

I'm going to rate this based on the reactions of my two youngest aged 5 and 6 yrs

7/10 mainly because they sat glued to it, chuckled a lot and pretty much really enjoyed it and no dreaded toilet breaks were needed, didn't get any higher because they have barely mentioned it since...children are so fickle.
