I decided to stay and watch this at the Odeon secret screening despite the fact that I had free tickets for the following evening. I was at the cinema for Love,Rosie anyway.
The film itself is pretty dark and the story does tend to sag at bits, however Gyllenhaal is fantastic and it's his performance that lifts it above the ordinary.
I think that this might be another film where opinions are divided.
7/10

Thanks for the tickets. Back from the one of the wee screens in Glasgow Quay. Hate this screen. This was an uncomfortable watch for me. It is like watching a car crash. You know you should look away but you don't. So if the director was aiming for this then he hit it on the nail. The lead character is so unlikeable and does things most people won't do. Gyllenhaal is so gaunt he is almost unrecognisable (though not as unrecognisable as today's headlines - Renee Zellweger) losing 20 pounds for this role. 5/10

I thought this was excellent, uncomfortable, unsettling, creepy, but still excellent.
And I did like all the details of the characters camera work and editing, it all rang true on the whole, which doesn't always happen when this stuff is shown in movies.
Jake Gyllenhall and Rene Russo were very good and the whole thing was gripping, even though it was a slightly depressing mirror on modern news media production and viewing, seems the public really does get what the public wants. 9/10

I saw this at a more or less full Wimbledon. I was really gripped by this, although I couldn't believe the things they were doing. Surely you can't get away with that sort of behavior?
Jake was mesmerising in this film, hardly recognizable with the amount of weight he'd lost, and playing a totally despicable character. At one stage I was nearly shouting at the screen.
Fantastic cinematography and a good score to go with it 8/10
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks

Snap, yogi & akh!
Sadly in the US there does seem to be more intrusive reporting during news broadcasts than in the UK.

Watch out for free tickets from the Sun as they have a screening next week. Tickets were released last week but there are often returns.

It put me in mind of the paps who were instrumental in the death of Princess Diana.
Fabulous performance from Jake Gyllenhaal.
