Indeed, it made me wonder just how much news is set up (Prince Harry in Las Vegas?) And how often media people could help, but don't?

JG was extremely dysfunctional, creepy and sinister, and I never relaxed when he was on screen. He was very convincing, and deeply unsettling. Indeed, the tension was almost Hitchcock level. although the plot was more predictable. In some ways, it reminded me of Enemy (where he also played a dysfunctional character),although this is much more enjoyable. However, I will not go to the Sun screening - once is plenty for now.

But I am wondering about the weight loss - is he following Matthew Mcconaughey's route to Oscar success?

9/10 from me, and I may even move this upwards once I relax again. but that could take a while...

I recall a reporter once saying that they were there to report the news not to change it as defence for not helping! The shock of that statement always stayed with me. For me, it is human nature to "help".

He did set his assistant up though and guessed he would do something to get revenge.
Good word, "unsettling". Even when he was being charming, he creeped me out. Unlike you though, I can't wait to see it again.

Ah, I was supposed to be seeing this tomorrow but I had to cancel my tickets (so there are two tickets available at the 11AM screening at the Picturehouse tomorrow!) and I'm absolutely gutted now reading your comments.
Will have to see it when it comes out next week!

I thought this was very good! Greenwich Picturehouse was full. A quick wave to Beate was all I could do today as I arrived later than usual!

Meet Lou. He’s a great guy: highly motivated, goal-driven, career-oriented. He doesn’t like people much ... but nobody’s perfect.

A movie that proves conclusively that small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy.

Loved it. A fantastic Gyllenhaal, so far film of the year for me.

Yeah they even turned people away. SFF oversuscribed it, hopefully those that got turned away were given vouchers as the usher was asking people to go down to talk to the manager to see what they could sort out.
We were made to wait until all the members with tickets had gone in, when we arrived there were 18 spare seats and by the time they let us in, just as the film was starting, there were just 5 dotted around.

We were impressed too -- Jake Gyllenhaal was very creepy. Hackney P'house was also full.

Yep - Jake Thing - well I can't say his name - is exceedingly creepy. He looks like a different person to Brokeback Mountain days.
This thriller is marvellous. Nice and original. I was rather worried about having seen the trailer for this on several occasions, and the plot having been given away. I neddn't have worried. Pretty much the whole of the trailer is contained in the first 20 minutes or so. The rest is all new after that.
The sound quality was amazing too - even down to the V8 thrummmm of his Mustang.
Only gripe was the age-old Hollywood use of fake blood that just looks - well - fake! Blood is not the colour of Ribena and is not translucent. In this day and age can they not simulate something as basic as blood?

Definitely worth a watch or two.

An easy 8/10.

Parts of this was good but it could have been so much better, I nearly fell asleep at one point! Jake Gyllenhaal played the part really well though, creepy & weird! 6/10
