10/10 I can't wait to get back to see it again. The whole cast were fantastic Benedict deserves all his Oscar talk and the young version of Alan deserves praise too. I do love fictional superhero films but this is a true story one. We owe him so much yet he was treated appallingly.

Excellent performances from all the leads plus the boy who played young Alan Turing. Amusing at times but also extremely emotive. Just a couple of minor things prevent me from awarding top marks to this. 9/10 and :cross: that Cumberbatch gets so awards for this.

Super-glossy treatment of the Turing story, directed with what’s becoming trademark efficiency by Morten (“Headhunters”) Tyldum.

Thoroughly absorbing performance from Humperdinck Bandersnatch. With Keira Knightley - as usual - completely out of her depth, this week’s best supporting actor award goes to Mark Strong’s portrayal of a sinister, urbane spook.

(Bit of a shambles at Greenwich last night. None of the tickets were checked, a little ironic given that we were turned away from the LFF screening last month. The film started on time, but then the first ten minutes were spoilt as the ushers, walkie-talkies blaring, herded out the latecomers / overbookers who had the temerity to sit in the aisles).

Does anyone else think that Alan Turing might have had Aspergers Syndrome?

I thought that was weird too, if anything doesn't this movie paint him as a failure? He was so obsessed with creating a machine that would solve everything that he overlooked

some of the partial substitution solutions that would have saved another 2 years or more? Also points to a lack of communication which was clearly offered as another major character fault.

Saw this yesterday in Wimbledon. A poignant film where Alan Turing, a socially inept genius (brilliantly played by Benedict Cumberbatch) cracked the dreaded Enigma encryption code. He befriended Joan Clarke (equally gift but more socially astute) played by an unusually good Keira Knightly, who helped him learn to interact with his fellow man. It was really a question of Turing being born too soon – had he be born 50 years later, he would have become an entrepreneur like Bill Gates or Steve Jobs, as it was, he was completely misunderstood, bullied and in the end both persecuted and prosecuted for his homosexuality. It’s very sad to think that Turing is only now getting the true recognition that he deserved. Definitely one to watch (and hopefully it will make the Oscars short-list). 10/10

If only. Introverts, and those at various stages along the autism spectrum, are as misunderstood, ignored, patronised, bullied, marginalised and abused as they ever were. Gates is a very rare exception.

And Knightley was dreadful. A decent actor could have made a difference to that part, and the movie.

10/10 thoroughly enjoyed the film. Great acting byBC had tears in my eyes at the end. Hope he gets the Oscar for his performance. Mark Strong has got sinister down to a tee as th MI6 representative. The film kept me engaged throughout, the audience was so quiet, no phones being checked or munching only breaking into laughter at the appropriate moment.
The life of Alan Turing is amazing and tragic. At university we had Wednesday afternoon visiting speakers, one man spoke about Enigma and Alan Turin. Even brought a copy of the machine you see being typed on in the film. Don't be fooled into thinking this is an 'easy' code that could have been broken with just the the sign off text. The maths behind the breaking of the code is amazing. Think I'll toddle down the library and order in his biography.

Also at Edinburgh packed screening, great film. I think I can explain the female laughing audience it was an elle magazine screening. Why do large groups arrive late then bother everyone who is watching the start of the film. Other than that actually didn't mind the usually annoying Keira in it
