Re: The Hunger Games
Thought that this was the best of the three so far and can't wait for the last instalment. I've not read the books but I can't image how they would have been able to condense it all into one film.

Re: The Hunger Games
had a quick preview of this after Shadows, and I'm not very impressed. A major step down from the high standards of the first two. Now this wouldn't be problem for something like Potter and twilight, because the previous potter /twilights were largely crap anyway, but in a high quality franchise its blatantly a problem.
Whilst I appreciate its setting up the 3rd film this should not be an excuse for half measures. if its a half standard or half content movie, perhaps they should charge us half price tickets to see it.

Re: The Hunger Games
Saw this tonight in Glasgow in preference to the Vampires even though we had to p*y as Free List Suspended until a date in December. I loved the first two films in the franchise and was really looking forward to this but I agree with a few others who have stated that this is the poorest of the films to date.
It was definitely setting up for the final installment and as such does seem to lack something. I am looking forward to the final film and hope that it returns to the standard of the first two.
Also, I thought the cinema would be very busy given the release of this film but screening room was not even 1/4 full.

Re: The Hunger Games
I am actually considering not seeing this movie in the full at all until next year, instead watching both Part 1 and 2 back to back on the inevitable double screenings that are put on next year.

Re: The Hunger Games
Be warned, you will have to make sure you avoid spoilers for a whole year and when they do the double (or even show all four together), I would guess that Part 2 will be a midnight screening. Would that incur extra expense in getting home?raj101 wrote:I am actually considering not seeing this movie in the full at all until next year, instead watching both Part 1 and 2 back to back on the inevitable double screenings that are put on next year.

Re: The Hunger Games
yeeeah I can probably wait, since I'm far from a screaming teen now (and to be fair when we were screaming teens we waited for it to get on tv anyway, we never had the money to rush to the cinema to see what we wanted, so ahem). Its clever what they have done with the films marketing wise, in that you are more inclined to see this one now because the last one led straight into it. They really should just do away with this Part 1 and 2 nonsense, but I fear more is to come with the middling Divergent and the promising but so far pedestrian Maze Runner films.
yeeeah I'll get home Sparrow, thanks. I am getting to know the cheap routes of London now, but thanks for the caveat in advance.

Re: The Hunger Games
I didn't think this was particularly weak. Just that the previous two obviously had more actions and more plot. I certainly seen plenty of films which had less actions than this one and almost nothing happening. I mean I wasn't bored in its 123 mins of it and even stayed till end of credits. However as part of a series of films this does feel like it building up to something rather than just a standalone film. I did think it would stop about 5 minutes shorter but it didn't. OH who has read the book thought it too.

Re: The Hunger Games
I saw it twice yesterday, both the midnight screening and in the evening of the sane day with my mom.
Surprisingly she enjoyed it more than the first two as it wasn't set in an arena, however if you have read the last book, you'll understand what I drag it was until the final confrontation.
In many ways, the film, and ill never say this again, Is infinitely better than the book.
7/10 loved the hanging tree sing brought to life, and I love how they didn't dumb down the brutal ness of the Capitol as they didin the first two films.
Peeta looks truly awful and was superbly acted!

still dont think its near the first two, but actually fairly good on the whole, just the year wait is a great shame till the next movie.
