Into the Woods

What a bizarre fairytale mish-mash musical. Lots of well-known actors but many only got bit parts. Strangely enough, James Corden made the most impact on me. The songs were rather terrible.

6/10

Well I loved it. I've seen the play in Regent's Park Open Air Theatre and I think Sondheim may be an acquired taste but I really liked the film. Surprised that Emily Blunt could sing so well.

Thought this was tremendously good.

Did Meryl have help with her singing ?

Some audience applause at the end at our screening.

9/10

I didn't like the songs either apart from the one on the waterfall by the two princes which was hilarious and the highlight for me. Chris Pine was good throughout especially his 'I was raised to be charming' line.

I wish more of it had been in this spirit, maybe it is an acquired taste as ejwrank has said, but it wasn't really for me. 6/10

The FMUK meal afterwards however was a 10/10 o/

I was half expecting applause after each song, as you get in the theatre.

I had a nightmare getting to Fulham, got hopelessly lost and managed to arrive to meet poor Jeanelle just as the film started. Luckily they then stopped the film to find out who owned a suitcase that was blocking something or other  We all then asked for the aircon to be turned off before the film was started again.

I felt it was a bit too long, and I started getting bored, especially in act 2. Apparently this was changed quite a bit from the play, not that I knew. Great performances and singing, some funny bits and even James Corden was ok. 7/10

I would like to see the musical if it comes round again vx
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks

Lots of versions freely (legally?) available on youtube. Broadway & tv versions in full. Will hopefully be watching in the next few days.

Also I have Sweeney Todd on dvd which I think deserves a rewatch.

Watched this in Glasgow and personally I really enjoyed this. The songs are an acquired taste but I felt they were catchy enough and almost do I know this tune before?

All the stars were pretty good especially Emily Blunt and Anna Kendrick. Who would have thought James Corden could get a wife like Emily Blunt? A solid 8/10 from me

I had never seen any of the versions of Into The Woods and was looking forward to seeing this one. I loved it! I thought it was well acted, funny and with great catchy songs. Meryl Streep was wonderful, as usual, and showed she could sing, even high pitched notes. All of them must have had months of singing training to prepare for the roles. The 'Agony' song with the two princes was purposely histrionic and hilarious. It was funny to see Chris Pine on this role. 8/10 from me.
