Show Film First
Re: Show Film First
Yes, the warning message I received from our office system definitely said something about "streaming", whatever that is. I don't know or care and it's doubtless too high-tech for me; why do they have to make things so complicated?!

Annoying huh? The streaming part just refers to the video clips that they show on there of upcoming movies. Good thing you've got a community of friends on here who are only too happy to bag you tickets for stuff!Ms Thrifty wrote:Yes, the warning message I received from our office system definitely said something about "streaming", whatever that is. Re: Show Film First
I comiserate with Ms Thrifty about the blocked work access because of the streaming nature of the new SFF site.
This is probably the case for others who work in large organisations too. It's most inconvenient when some additional functionality like adding video clips as a perceived improvement, actually results in a worse service for some of our members.
It would be nice if SFF would consider running a "cut down service" in parallel with their new one, which could still be accessed by members working for those organisations with more rigourous security policies?
I wonder if they ever read our posts on here.

Re: Show Film First
Well, I would try to contact them (albeit from home, of course) to try to point this out, but for one thing, SFF didn't reply even when I sent them 3 plaintive requests to re-send my ticket a while back and for another, I would probably only succeed in confirming their suspicion that members like me are exactly those they don't want, i.e. older and/or unable to access all their fancy new features. It's very nice of others to get tickets for me and other members in this position, but it means it's all one way, which isn't fair.

Re: Show Film First
well thanks for writing that email and creating this post because i failed to get a few tickets this month within minutes of the code being released and i thought it was me that the problem was with as the site kept staing all the tickets are gone or there is an errors.
So i feel comfort now knowing that i was not the only person experiencing problems getting tickets this month.
Strength is in numbers so i will email them as well next time now that i am aware they are actively trying to better the site.

You can avoid the streaming bit by using this kind of link.hdaniel82 wrote:Annoying huh? The streaming part just refers to the video clips that they show on there of upcoming movies. It goes straight to the booking page which has no streaming movies; unless there are no tickets in which case it takes you to the home page with the streaming movie.

Re: Show Film First
Thank you very much, Steve - this link should be very useful to me and others who have limited access at work. It also avoids the issue of whether to contact SFF and risk being ignored yet again!

Re: Show Film First
I'm in the same boat as I guess you also work for the NHS, I've never been allowed to access non work related sites and also feel its all one way with the brilliant people on here who try to get me tickets; to try to balance it I always go on the internet first thing in the morning everyday to look out for the others when quite often more tickets are released including weekends as like you I wouldn't want to take advantage of anyone's kindness.Ms Thrifty wrote:Well, I would try to contact them (albeit from home, of course) to try to point this out, but for one thing, SFF didn't reply even when I sent them 3 plaintive requests to re-send my ticket a while back and for another, I would probably only succeed in confirming their suspicion that members like me are exactly those they don't want, i.e. older and/or unable to access all their fancy new features. Using https instead of http means that a secure connection is started. It also means that if it redirects to the home page that will also be a secure connection and as the streaming isn't secure a pop-up box appears - asking if you want to download only the secure info. Read it carefully and pick the option for "secure only" and there's no unwanted previews playing. This also works if you go straight to the homepage - go https:// and the page sorts itself out very quickly.

Re: Show Film First
I've just tried Steve's alternative suggestion for accessing Showfilmfirst but still received an "internet access check" warning from our office system, so shall have to give up on trying to book SFF tickets from work. Has anyone else with a similar restriction been able to access SFF this way?
