Review: The Proposal

I'm seeing this next Monday - just checked the tickets & found some are for Dundee Cineworld & 2 are for Dundee Odeon!
I think my mum's tickets are for the Odeon too!
I haven't seen this happen - 2 previews in Dundee on the same night.
Looks like we'll be going in 2 groups - I suppose we can always meet up & compare notes afterwards! Hope it'll be worth it, we're all looking forward to it!

This film is great from the start. Continuously funny with a few laugh out loud comedy moments. Naked bathroom scene anyone? Ok, so it doesn't deviate at all from the typical romantic comedy and the ending is very soppy and highly predictable but I loved it. Ryan Reynolds is amazing and Sandra Bullock is on top form - she's 45? Really?

Thought we weren't going to be able to see this, turned up 10 mins late at Switch Island and was told we couldn't get in, but the kindly manager allowed us in seen as we travelled from Southport. I enjoyed the film but my Husband said it was just a typical rom-com but said it was OK.

i went to the gateshead odeon for this . i thought it was going to be more of womens type of film , but i was suprised how good it was . the cinema was full and everybody seemed to enjoy the film . there was a few laughs as well . there was a lot of women and couples at the film tonite . i would recomend everybody go and see it . sandra bulluck is good looking for her age didnt realize she was 45

Saw this at Odeon Surrey Quays tonight, was quite looking forward to this and the first 30 minutes were quite enjoyable with a few laughs throw in, but as seems per usual with Hollywood films, after that first 30 minutes it dived headfirst into incredibly predictable formulaic nonsense with the obligatory smaltz and some really silly scenes (see spoiler below). I'd really lost interest by the end, and felt like I'd seen it a hundred times before so came out a bit dissapointed.

[spoiler]the scene when they dance in the woods - what the hell was that all about?!, the bird picking up the dog (what?!) the inevitable collision when they were naked, and the 'I can't swim' bit off the boat (some of which looked superimposed)[/spoiler]

Saw this with a friend at Cineworld, Crawley. It was in one of their smaller screens (noticeably smaller than for "The Hangover"), but still only about half-full. Formulaic, predictable (and a bit slow), yes, but we both enjoyed it, as everyone else seemed to. People were laughing, and even clapping at one point. With all this talk about SB's age, no-one has mentioned that of Ryan Reynolds (32), who looked far too young for her. I would only give it 7.5 but it was still a pleasant, undemanding evening out and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes that sort of thing.

I saw this for the second time last night with some other friends - thanks again Cortone for the tickets. I have to say it was a lot better second time round. A gentle, pleasing film, which did not require too much thought in following the storyline. I can't believe she is 45. She has the body of a woman half that age! ( - envy is a shocking sin!)
