Re: Weight Watchers
Well, this is day 4 of not eating like a little piggy wig.
Must... Make... One... Week. The first week of getting back on the wagon is the hardest, it always gets easier once you get past that first week and your body adjusts to eating like a normal human being.
Scales are moving in the right direction. I'm sure it's only water weight, but I don't care, if it motivates me to keep going, it can only be a good thing!
Best of luck, lemondrop. Preston, you trouble maker! Well done for your gym going though, it's all very impressive.
Ejwrank, you're totally right, I'm seeing the physio again tomorrow and will ask him about time frames.

Re: Weight Watchers
Wishing you well on this first difficult week, asamaic. Hope your physio gives you a good idea of the path ahead -- be it a ParkRun or maybe starting out with a ParkWalk!
Wishing lemondrop well on the journey ahead.
As for you Lord P, well you'd best be a bit more reticient in who you pick fights with or you'll be running like Usain Bolt away from that gym of yours. I did like how you already have the lingo down pat with your nonchalant use of 'gym slot' thrown in such a matter of fact way. I am a bit concerned as to all those power tools for the hedge trimming that you now have. Do be careful with all that machinery and I wonder if this will take as much weight off as your manual trimmers and brute force. Time will tell, no doubt.
Agree with you jjjoanne that getting through one day is a happy feat. I am sure you are more successful at it than I am.

Re: Weight Watchers
Thanks for the compliment, lemondrop. I'd just like to add my own voice to all the others on here to welcome you to the Weight Watchers thread, and to wish you the best of luck with your personal weightloss plans. It looks like you've made a really good start already with your menu today.lemondrop wrote:I've been following this thread and wanted to say you're all doing brilliantly, you've also well and truly given me the push I needed! Ideally I would love to lose a stone before Christmas but weight loss is never easy, so we'll see.
So here goes...
Well done asamaicasamaic wrote:Scales are moving in the right direction. I'm sure it's only water weight, but I don't care, if it motivates me to keep going, it can only be a good thing!

As a newcomer to the gym, I was doing some halfhearted bicep curls when one of the collars that secure the discs came loose and rolled underneath the foot of the local hardman. Arms extended in the overhead jerk phase of a massive lift he gave a cry, toppled backwards with his barbell, and ended up pinned by the neck under 150 kg.
The gym attendant rushed over in a panic and exclaimed, "What on earth have you done, Preston?"
"But it wasn't my fault!" I shouted, pointing. "It was that dumbbell end."
Now I did have to run on that occasion!!
In other news, it was session three of my gym course today. I performed the following. Ok, perhaps performed is not the right word, as it implies a certain level of competence
45 minutes of knockabout badders,
45 minutes of assorted gym machines, upright exercise bike, treadmill and the rowing machine (a whole 3 mins on the rower - I burnt 17 cals!
20 minutes leisurely "don't get the hair wet" swim - not because of any vanity on my part, but to minimise the chance of contamination to/total loss off my long suffering contact lenses. My optician would go nuts if he knew!!
10 mins Sauna - Very relaxing and my favourite part of the session.
Called in to Waitrose for a free black coffee on the way home.
Back home a parcel was waiting for me. Thanks, Diane
Can't wait to try the jam out, tomorrow
Today's Menu
Breakfast: Porridge, skimmed milk, blackberries
Lunch: Salmon, instant noodles, grilled courgette slices.
Evening Meal: Salad with boiled egg and tuna.
Be good everyone

Re: Weight Watchers
You're very welcome Preston1990 and I am so so impressed with the gym workouts. Well done asamaic and lemondrop you 2 are doing amazing. Well as for me due to unforeseen circumstances ie had to go training all day Tuesday (management forgot to mention it) hence am having to fit 4 days into 3 so doing 12 hour days this week so eating on the go. My special day is actually this Friday for my lunch at the House of Lords
I have only lost 3lbs
The dress code is an afternoon dress and luckily this dress is very forgiving in navy blue http://www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Dre ... Dress.html My skin looks clearer as drinking a lot of water
After Friday I will have lots more free time so I'm with lemondrop on the losing 1 stone before Christmas challenge. Preston1990 is putting me to shame.

Re: Weight Watchers
I got asked to review a show last minute, and thought about getting takeaway on the way home... then decided to follow Diane65's example of nipping into M&S and b*ying a low calorie ready meal. Ravioli - 352 calories. Chocolate dessert - 154 calories. I'm not even going to estimate how many calories would have been in the alternative...
Approaching the end of day four... Starting to pick up some determination.
That's a lovely dress Diane65. I too am up for losing a stone before Christmas.
Hang on, are you swimming wearing contact lenses, Preston?
A good friend of mine is an eye doctor, who works in specialist eye A&E. I promise not to repeat any of the horror stories to you if you stopping swimming with contacts in! I sympathise a bit because being so bloody blind is one of the reasons why I don't swim anymore (was an excellent swimmer as a better sighted child) but you can get prescription goggles for cheap online and that's a much safer solution.

Re: Weight Watchers
Welcome lemondrop, asamaic & SydneyBristow! Well done to Preston for your weight loss this week & congrats Diane for your lovely looking cooking & hope the drive to uni went ok.
Not posted for a while but been reading over the last posts....as always, they're inspiring me to continue with the perseverance of weight loss....my "weigh in day" was 2 days ago & I've put on 2lbs
oh well, I know I've had a few unhealthy days this week. At the moment I'm trying to work on improving my body clock (not been able to sleep til about 5am & getting up every day around 2pm...), & I think the weight loss has been forgotten about this week!!

Being a bit of a nosy so and so, I had a dig around on the internet and came across this little snippet
"Typical dishes available on the lunch menu may include:
• Cauliflower soup, blue cheese straw and parsley pesto (v)
• Dorset crab and scallop saffron ravioli, beurre blanc, spinach, tomato and tarragon concasse
• Pressed gammon and chicken, pickled vegetables, piccalilli sauce, mustard cress and bread croute
• Orange-cured royal fillet of salmon, wasabi foam, soy and honey dressing, oatcrumb and coriander
• Sea bream, julienne of vegetables, squid ink spaghetti, samphire, pesto and lemon cream sauce
• Poached breast of corn-fed chicken stuffed with wild mushrooms, pearl barley, autumn vegetable broth, chicken jus and crispy skin
• Braised beef, horseradish mash, buttered kale, carrot and parsnip crisps, Bordelaise sauce
• Butternut squash risotto, sage, shaved pecorino and pumpkin seeds (v)
• Cherry and apple crumble with vanilla ice cream
• Banana and caramel parfait, macerated blackberries, honeycomb and blackberry sorbet
• Warm chocolate ganache, coconut sorbet and sesame seed tuile
• Selection of cheeses from the British Isles, poached pear, pistachio biscotti and Keen’s cheddar scone"
It sounds absolutely fantastic! I'm totally jell
Difficult to spot the low-calorie option in that little lot
That dress looks lovely Diane, you'll knock em dead.
Oops! I know what you are saying is spot on Asamaic especially as I've had retinal detachment in both of my eyes and cataract surgery in one also. Great to hear your positivity and that you are still hanging in there, ClareBarr. I hope that you manage to get your sleep pattern more aligned with the norm. Once you have that sorted out, then your weight loss plans should become much more easier to achieve.ClareBarr wrote: Not posted for a while but been reading over the last posts....as always, they're inspiring me to continue with the perseverance of weight loss....my "weigh in day" was 2 days ago & I've put on 2lbsoh well, I know I've had a few unhealthy days this week. Thanks for reminding me of your London House of Lords adventure, Diane. You will look terrific in that dress and don't forget to pack your snazzy shoes and wear your comfortable ones on the journey. I cannot seem to stop telling people what to do -- sorry!
Good advice you havegiven Lord P on those contact lenses in the pool, asamaic. And hope you manage to adjust your body clock, ClareBarr. I am not one to give advice on this as I stay up far too late but I think the key is doing it very gradually just 5/10 minutes earlier each night. I certainly wish you well on that journey.
Bet that porridge will taste delish, Preston, with some homemade plum jam -- courtesy of our own Diane. I made some quince jelly in February and it never really got set hard like you see it sold in the shops (well in Waitrose at the deli counter) but husband enjoys the slightly soupy syrup it on his porridge so it has been a success of sorts. And homemade soup for supper, Preston -- That sounds good. I made soup last week to impress my family who were here from the US but must make some more just to impress us.
Onwards, Weightwatchers, and downwards on those scales.
