....et voilà!....

The "after" photo of the aforementioned hedge - just need to bag all the clippings up now!

The reddish coloured bush just peeping out half way up on the left hand side of the photo is my local blackberry bush.

Preston's Grim Reaper impression

Ha ha that is brilliant Preston1990 I was thinking that you needed feeding up seeing that picture. Well done on your hard work especially on having such a huge estate.

Very impressive hedge and scarecrow -- I mean Lord of the Manor!

Wow that's some hedge preston. For me you had the look of a Terry Pratchet character, more the grim reaper. Job well done

Re: Gardening tips and ideas
Its getting that time of the year again to be making the most of our gardens. Over the last few years I have with the help of my friend and her husband laid decking at the back of my house so looks prettier (it looked so scruffy before
). b*ght a pergola for the side of the house (used holiday money on that), laid stepping stones across my lawn (very mossy but that doesn't bother me) so now have the hard landscaping bit (not landscaping as such but you get the idea) so now want to start making it floral.
I am struggling with a patch at the side of my house (only tiny) that I want a bit wild flower like to encourage bees and butterflies. I have tons of pink geraniums but brambles keep on growing through it so it just keeps on looking like a jungle mess and although the geranium are pretty they are taking over. Now it is at the stage where I have nowhere to step on to cut it back. Any ideas on how to create the wildflower garden that looks like it just happens naturally (which it seriously isn't happening)?
Also ideas for plants to grow up a pergola. One side a clematis is doing OK but the other shaded bit which I also planted last year is dead.
How is everyone else getting on?
