I saw this on Monday, thanks to The Sparrow, akh43 and Betty Botter for the help getting tickets.

It's far from a conventional biopic something which seems more common these days with films like Love and Mercy, Get On Up, and even Steve Jobs. Whereas I left all those films feeling I'd gained an insight into the person and how they worked/created I found Miles Ahead quite frustrating. Apparently a big part of this film is fictionalised, as is a major character, which is fine - 90% of Steve Jobs is at the very least embellished, but the central caper storyline, non-linear structure and very showy direction kept me at arms length for most of this film.

It's shame because Don Cheadle is very good, and more informed reviewers than me have commented how accurate his portrayal is. A missed opportunity 6/10

Agree. It seemed that the crime caper sub-plot trivialised the character of Miles Davis which surely can't have been the intention.
