Captain America: Civil War
Saw it at a multimedia screening in London last night. The film is incredible, and definitely my favourite of the MCU so far. There are so many great characters, moments and action sequences in this film, that it's hard to pick a favourite of any. But Black Panther and Spider-Man were definitely highlights. Anyone who's a fan of the marvel films will love this one. It's really a continuation of the Winter Soldier, as opposed to another Avengers film. I saw it in IMAX 3D, the 3D is not really impressive, but the film needs to be seen on a big screen, and IMAX definitely enhances the experience. Stay for the credits.

Re: Captain America: Civil War
Really, really enjoyed Captain America: Civil War at the European Premiere at Westfield London on Tuesday night.
The fights, the humour, the characters are all brilliant. It's a delight to see Ant-Man and Spiderman in the film too, but I missed the Incredible Hulk. A good thriller story. Even though the front row seats are just too near for the huge screen thus distorting the size of the characters on screen from one side of the screen to the other side, the film was so enjoyable, it was a minor irritation. 10/10
Unfortunately, at Vue Westfield London, people with tickets to the premieres will not see the cast intros in the flesh, since the stars do not do a personal introduction in the Screens where you will be sitting (it's impossible anyway, as there are too many Screens used for the premiere screenings), but via a live video link from the stage in the atrium, so just a screen appearance, unlike premiere screenings in West End cinemas where the stars will do an intro in the flesh, so premieres there are much more fan friendly, and you have more of a chance to see the stars in the flesh, either by walking the red carpet or the personal intro inside the Screens. However, one solution, perhaps, they could try is that they could split the cast up so they divide their time between the different screens, so the fans can see some stars in the flesh, which is better than none. There are 17 screens at Vue Westfield, so it could take them all night for them to do a personal intro!!
But did spot John Boyega (Finn in Star Wars) taking his seat in the VIP seats at the back of Screen 7!
They were selling drinks with the Marvel characters on the top of the lids:

Re: Captain America: Civil War
I asked the question a few days ago if there was a need to see any of the previous films before seeing Civil War and now after seeing it I now know the answer and it's definitely yes.
Catching up on Winter Soldier, Age of Ultron and to a lesser degree Ant-Man before seeing this would have helped. The Marvel universe is becoming so extended with so many characters and back stories that it's becoming hard to keep up with the storyline. The makers need to remember that its not a weekly TV program their making and with months if not years between films Marvel are in danger of finding that their films are becoming confusing for all but the most ardent of fans.
As for Civil War, took a long time to get going with very little action in the first two thirds and at the end it just felt like one big long trailer for the next one.
If you're catching it in Imax there's one scene filmed in the format. There's also a scene at the start of the credits and one at the end of the credits.

Re: Captain America: Civil War
Thought this was just okay, the Marvel movies would be much more enjoyable if they actually felt like regular movies. They're just a collection of scenes that rely on existing knowledge and expectations.
Nothing happens for most of the movie that couldn't be solved by two simple conversations but most of the plot happens off screen anyway so lets just give it a pass, nobranium/10.

Re: Captain America: Civil War
I caught the original in the budget double bill, have to say its a very underrated film (I did see this at the time but slept through most of it and missed the beginning too back then). Not only does it work hard to be distinctive from the typical superhero fodder you might expect, its also got plenty more of Peggy Carter in too.
If part 3 turns out good this might well rival Batman and Iron man as best superhero trilogy, after all Winter Soldier was pretty seminal.

Re: Captain America: Civil War
Captain America Civil War offers up more satisfying Marvel action under the increasingly confident hands of The Russo Brothers.
There's, predictably, plenty of thrilling action set pieces but, crucially, they play out with a strong emotional undertow.
This isn't a Batman vs Superman style punch-up where characters fight because hey wouldn't that make a cool movie but one that's been built over several movies with characters we've come to care about.
This is most notable in its climax which eschews the more usual airborne threat to the world of previous films for a down to earth intimate face-off.
As well as being a more emotional experience than BvS, it's also a lot more fun.
The sheer amount of superheroes on screen means that inevitably some don't get to make as much impact as you'd hope but an airport based set piece gives most of them the chance to shine.
Chaswick Boseman and Tom Holland are very welcome additions to the MCU, which bodes very well indeed for the respective Black Panther and Spider-Man solo outings.
Perhaps Daniel Bruhl's lead villain is not quite as formidable as he could have been. As good an actor he is, his character is more of a convenient catalyst than a memorable foe, but that's a minor flaw.
Exciting and never as overstuffed as it could have been, its 147 mins fly by.
Plus Community fans who enjoyed the brief Danny Pudi cameo in Winter Soldier will be glad that someone else from the show makes an appearance here.
