left before the craappy djs got in., I think its still going lol but I don't get staying for djs, any fool can play records. caught the end of fold festival at Fulham palace.
Chortle! That craapy DJ was Mark Ronson who was behind 'Uptown Funk' the biggest hit in the world! He played it, then spun Prince songs which got everyone on their feet dancing!

true indeed, Autism rocks! and besides DJs playing prerecorded stuff are fine when u got nowhere else to be and a no readmission policy on the door.

But Fold Festival finished MUCH better with live performances. when I say craapy DJs, I don't mean a Dj who is craappy. I mean all DJs are craapy compared to actual musicians, no offence.

THE DONKEY SHOW: A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DISCO - your opinion

#6213 Post by xznhjg » Tue Jul 12, 2016 4:40 pm

Another time, free tickets available and I wonder if:
Anyone already seen it?
What's your opinion?
Is it worthy to go?

Sorry a bit late in posting! Yes, I went last month.

Very retro show, good fun and great 70s music and If you love 70s disco its for you, if not give it a miss. If you get there early, you can mingle with the singers/actors before they start the show which is in the centre where the dance floor is and if you want to have a seat round one side, on the right hand, then be first ones in, get queuing early inside, pass the bar. Get drinks early too at the bar before going in, otherwise it's gets very crowded and take ages to get served.

After the show, the club opens and you can stay, its hip hop then.

doing Caught by The River, the word is patently chilled there, very laid back musical grooves and guitar spills and extraneous unexpected events. Call it a mini-Wilderness.

Bear in mind its a mini festival really, with one proper stage and a tiny event area but fortunately never too crowded. I can see why they had problems selling tickets, they were at a regular festival size event price (£110 for a weekend ticket, yeh right).

No food/drink policy is at odds with the guys at the entrance handing out free cans of energy drink. You pick one up 50 yards from the entrance,, they take it away at the entrance lol. Some more thought needed in planning the event. They didn't get my hidden food stocks though haha.

I been confusing Beth Orton with Beth Gibbons. Wondered why she didn't sound all weird and squeaky like in Portishead lol. Solid music all round, though a very short list of artists (just five proper bands).

I recommend The Truth at Wyndhams Theatre if tickets come available again. Its only 90 mins long, no interval, and I pretty much laughed from the minute it started. Theatre is right next door to Leicester Square tube vx
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks
