great SFX, but I suspect more lies than true story, seeing as its American. Entertaining in the big bang stakes nevertheless.

Deepwater Horizon. Thought it was very good and led to an interesting discussion afterwards. Being a scot it made me remember the Piper Alpha disaster in the North Sea while I was watching the film so I found it very powerful indeed and the director Peter Berg is a real talent.

Thought this film had a really good story line, which was mainly from the perspective of one of the employees, being Mike Williams. The cast was strong and well acted on the whole. The actions sequences added to the suspense without overkill on the CGI side. It also seemed to remain fairly faithful to the events, but stopped short of going into detail of what happened to BP after the tragedy. I would give it 7 to 8 out of 10, which exceeded my expectations, so well worth a watch.

Really enjoyed it and I didn't follow the news when it happened back in 2010? So the film was useful to learn some historical information about the event.

Great movie - loved it ! Definitely worth seeing. Went to the Euro Premiere in London. Mark Wahlberg, the producer and the director all came out before it was screened and said a few introductory words each, which was lovely. Having worked in the safety industry for a long time, it's a well known fact that most employees find the safety rules on site to be in their opinion, annoying, pointless and generally a blight on their existence - with safety personnel making them do 'unnecessary' safety tests etc. This movie should be mandatory watching for all those people! Mark was fantastic in the movie and although the story had a predictable turn of events, the pace and suspense and action sequences were great.

In many ways, it is reminscent in feel to some of those 70s "disaster" films, such as Towering Inferno - but with the difference that it's true.

The long, slow build-up is the usual approach to these films, but it works very well - although they could perhaps established some of the other characters a bit more, rather than focusing quite so exclusively on the leads.

Some people have crticised John Malkovitch for "chewing the scenery", which is a little unfair.

The effects are well done and and you do get a genuine sense of the peril.

some of the forced "workman speak" is a bit much. They didn't talk like that!

I enjoyed this film, very intense throughout and thought it told the story well. I would have just liked to have seen a bit more about the aftermath, the clean up, impact on the environment and the court room drama, etc. 7/10

Great great film! Very good story line, lots of gripping action and brilliant effects! I thought it was very entertaining and the actors played their characters really well!

Watched this with my daughter over the weekend and would agree a 7/10. Good story, action and cast.
