The Time Of Their Lives

#1 Post by scootermcc » Sun Mar 05, 2017 3:13 pm

It might have been the time of their lives for the cast but for the audience it's time that they'll never get back. Absolutely dire, poor contrived script with some cringeworthy performances and a Franco Nero full frontal at 1030 on a Sunday morning is more than anyone should have to bear.

An embarrassing 0/10

And a big thank you to the couple who kicked the back of my seat for the full running time of the film, on the plus side at least it kept me from falling asleep. :nono:

Pauline Collins character seemed to be drawn to selfish self centred people as the Joan Collins character was every bit as bad as her husband was.

I really liked this. Yes, it was clichéd but it was funny and I rather liked seeing Franco Nero although I wasn't expecting to see quite so much lol
I've never been a fan of Joan Collins but she showed she could act rather than overact.

Had all the ingredients to make it a fun filled comedy film but somehow that didn't happen. A few funny moments but no laugh out loud scenes. Pauline Collins was just doing her Shirley Valentine role again.

I really liked this as well. It was light and entertaining for a Sunday morning. Shame Holloway cinema was less than 50% full. Joan Collins I thought was very good as the aging egotistical actress who wanted another go at life and Pauline Collins complemented her as the sensible one who in the end through caution to the wind. 7/10

They were trying to do Shirley Valentine 2 meets Ab-Fab and failed miserably. Joan Collins just cannot do comedy.
3 out of 10 from me.

Definitely a BBC2 Sunday 9pm movie (rather than the Universal blockbuster it looked like being pre credits).
Such a shame that this ended up being a feel meh film rather than a feel good film. So any opportunities for a happy ending on various levels yet this just depressed.
Curiously I did enjoy this to a point, but not really comedic. I do have to say that there really isn't any need nor point of this film. It doesn't need to exist. (A bit like the pointless children who didn't even get so much as a line to utter).

Bland.

Oh - and I used to fancy Joely Richardson. ;-)

This film was shocking. Unfortunately I had to stay as I had invited a friend along. We agreed we'd rank it along side 'Pudsey'
Member no. 55 of the "100 free films in 2014" club - 46 movies seen 54 to go. Target 72

0 freebies coming up, seen 26 previews, seen 12 non-previews so far - yippee...pa*d for 8 - Hubble 3D 5.50, Non-stop 6.60, Transcendence 6.60, The Amazing Spiderman II 3D 7.38, Love Punch 5.94, Locke 5.31, The other woman 5.94, The monuments men 5.31 and cancelled another 5 for various reasons.
