Jason and the Argonauts
A Family Adventure
written by Phil Willmott with lyrics by Howard Jaques and music by Geoff Menzer
based on the classic tale
Clamber aboard the mighty ship Argo to join the heroic Prince Jason, plucky princess Medea, Hercules and all the gang for a lively retelling of the greatest adventure story ever told! Our heroes must overcome monsters, tricksters and tempests if they're to capture the mythical goldenfleece they need to defeat Jason's evil uncle and win back the kingdom.
This ancient legend has enchanted people of all ages inspiring 1950s Hollywood, modern game designers and storytelling down the centuries. This brand new version especially conceived for the Scoop at More London injects a little brainiac science into the mix too to keep modern kids intrigued and on their toes. Expect all the knockabout comedy, toe-tapping songs, ingenious puppetry and summer fun that make the Steam Industry's free family shows an unmissable teatime treat in The Scoop at More London.

Medea
A specially commissioned translation of Euripides' celebrated revenge drama by Stella Duffy.
But what happened next?
As the sun sets there's a chance for older audiences to enjoy the intrigue, scandal and heart-stopping suspense of a celebrity marriage in crisis as the adult Jason and Medea's love is tested to its limits.
When King Jason is lured away by a new princess, Medea plots the famous and terrible revenge that has shocked audiences for thousands of years. Is she right to act as she does?
Join the debate as we re-imagine the ancient drama in a lively, modern production embracing the magnificence of More London's riverside architecture. The Steam Industry team return to the plays of ancient Greece by popular demand after past award-winning productions of Oedipus, Agamemnon, Cyclops, Helen of Troy and Children of Hercules by the same author attracted huge crowds and international critical acclaim.

Fringe - Unexpected Opera Company
http://www.morelondon.com/events_details.asp?ID=56
24 - 26 June
Time: 7pmLocation: The Scoop at More LondonAdmission: FREE
The More London Free Festival has been expanded for 2009. This year we are introducing a new element in June - Fringe. This is where up and coming and more experimental arts organisations will be showcased. This will be followed by Free Music in July, Free Theatre in August and Free Films in September.
Enjoy accessible opera for all b*ght to you by the Unexpected Opera Company
A crazy, riotous and fast-paced English version of Rossini's classic comic opera "The Barber of Seville".
Lifted out of 17th century Spain by writers Tim Riley and John Lovat, the action is dumped hook, line and sinker into 1950's London: the era of Brylcreem, Teddy Boys and rock'n'roll. Figaro, the famous barber, plys his trade among the fashionable set and outwits all of them in the name of true love.
Presented by Unexpected Opera, this is a show for opera enthusiasts and first-timers alike.
The Barber of Savile Row is the launch production of Unexpected Opera, a new company dedicated to creating high quality, enjoyable opera accessible to everyone. This surprising and fast-paced adaptation takes Rossini's classic comic opera out of the 17th century and into 1950s London with barber Figaro as a Teddy Boy with a touch of Elvis. An undaunting introduction to opera for new audiences, it also offers a fresh context for conniseurs.
"... splendidly conceived and wittily directed by Lynn Binstock, who particularly aimed it at a non-opera-going audience, but any dedicated opera buff would, I'm sure, take to it like a duck to water." Eastern Daily Press
Rossini's outstanding music and hard-learned singing traditions are retained along with the comedy of the original piece, injected with an additional dose of British humour. Performed in English with dialogue instead of operatic "recitative" between the numbers, every word can be enjoyed and appreciated by a wide audience. Constantly inventive, the production's additional twists include a panto dame, stand-up comic, a sing-along and a 4-piece combo.
Unexpected Opera was founded in 2007 by Artistic Director Lynn Binstock and Managing Director Matthew Quirk. The company brings live performances of classic opera to a wider audience, with clarity, humour and originality. It presents classic opera in engaging productions, sung in English and performed in unusual and special locations. http://www.unexpectedopera.com
Lynn Binstock has directed many operas in the UK, USA and Germany. She has been Associate Director at the Royal Opera House, Scottish Opera and ENO, Head of Staff Directors at ENO, Artistic Administrator for the Jerwood Young Singers Programme, and in 1995 founded Curious Opera Group to bring opera to families and children. Unexpected Opera grew out of her interest in creating unusual opera experiences for new audiences. Productions for the company include The Bat's Revenge, a reimagining of Die Fleidermaus, commissioned by pub chain JD Wetherspoon in its Opera House pub in Tunbridge Wells.
Production Team: Director Lynn Binstock, Musical Director Stephen Hose, Set Design Sally Ferguson & James Perkins, Costumes Heidi Bryan, Lighting Design Sally Ferguson), Stage Manager, Preece Killick.
