Priamia: That's rubbish of that company. However, if they are this cr*p, they might be cr*p with p*ying you for any work you'd do for them! I hope something else comes up soon. Good luck.

Re: The Diary Room
I'm all for saving money, but some people ask too much.
One of my friends wants to meet for dinner tomorrow, so I suggested a new restaurant that had opened near me, which was doing a 50% off food. I told her I had not been, so we could give it a try. I sent her the menu.
Her response was I really like steak and chips, which would have cost £5 with the offer, and I think that's quite reasonable! However, before she'd agree to go, she wants to know how big is the steak and how many chips do I get?!! The menu just says rib-eye steak and chips, not 8oz steak etc. And it certainly doesn't say how many chips we'd get
HUH?!?!?! Just as well she's not going to go for the chicken pie with peas, or else I'd have to count the peas?!

I think her questions are taking the peas... I mean p*ss

Re: The Diary Room
£5 for steak and chips sounds really good. Where is that?
Does it matter how many chips and how big the steak it? she should come for your company and a nice meal at 50% off!

Re: The Diary Room
That's at the Wenlock and Essex on Essex Road in N1 (old Living Room). I've not been yet. I posted a link to the 50% off in the bargains thread... but here it is again. Sorry, it's actually £5.50 (from £11.00)tilly wrote:£5 for steak and chips sounds really good. Where is that?

Re: The Diary Room
priama -sorry to hear that.
Don't sound like a good company to work for if they are so disorganised with who they want. Some times things happen for a reason, and something way better will come along. It's their loss!

Re: The Diary Room
priamia - sorry to hear about your awful experience and feel prettyxcool's comments are spot on... something much better will come along for you!
Over a year ago a large animation company treated me in a similar way. I was so upset but mainly shocked about how these well known companies can treat you. A year on and it turned out to be a blessing in disguise and things couldn't be better.
I wish you lots of success in your search!!

Re: The Diary Room
Priama, sorry to hear of your situation. Let's hope that this will somehow work out for you - maybe with a better placement. Fingers crossed for you.
I have had a really funny (both hilarious and peculiar) evening. I was taking my elderly neighbours out for a meal and to a concert (chosen by them) for the wife's 80th birthday. I vacuumed and tidied my car, picked them up, and we set off to the restaurant.... We were about 400 yards away from it when the wife realised she had not put her false teeth in, and clearly could not eat without them, and then it transpired that the husband had not put batteries in his deaf aid, so he'd have got nothing from the concert!
Bless, he had no idea why we were returning to their house, without having stopped anywhere, as he could not hear. He has memory problems, and was very confused. I think he thought we were having a practical joke. I was dying to laugh, but did not dare. So now I am back, I am really laughing about this.
However, all turned out well in the end (and especially as they picked up the bill for the meal :-)),. They totally loved the concert - the first time I have seen them smiling in weeks.
Pity the husband will have forgotten about it by tomorrow...

Re: The Diary Room
Absolutely awful scenario and I completely feel your frustration and upset.
So don't dwell on what happened this morning, look to the future and think yourself lucky for getting out of what may have been a crappy job (considering their obvious lack of common curtsey, decency and professionalism).
