Maybe you were too young or just skint! Which movies would you have wanted to see on the big screen?

Mine would have been

Memoirs of a Geisha
Back to the Future
Star Wars (in 1977
)

Seen all 3 of those at the cinema, though Memoirs of a Geisha was very regrettable!

Films I would have loved to have seen in the cinema for pure cinematic experience, were not in my lifetime:

Ben Hur (Heston version)
North By Northwest
Once Upon a Time in the West
Metropolis (with original live orchestra!)

But only one film in my lifetime I would have loved to see which I was too young for was

Jaws (my top 3 all time favourite movies)

The drawback of that, though, would be having to watch it with an audience full of booing Nazis...

Gosh, I haven't missed much but the films I want to see on the big screen are the Golden Oldies. I was lucky enough to see It's A Wonderful Life, and also White Christmas - both at the wonderful Tyneside cinema in Newcastle.
Cineworld, Boldon, sometimes has screenings of classic films but I often miss out on seeing them.

However, if I could ever see The Searchers on the big screen, I'd be there like a shot. I think it is simply the best cowboy movie ever made.

You got me looking up Tynesyde cinema and it sounds like a great cinema experience. I will be up there to do my charity marathon run in September, so maybe I'll go catch a movie there to celebrate my run!

And good call on the Searchers, a good ol' John Ford epic must have been quite a treat for audiences back then.
