Maybe 10/10 from AYBG means a movie was perfect, and that word was not used in his review?

Yeah I was thinking about that myself actually. I have no doubt I'd give it 5 stars, but I can't quite bring myself to give it 10/10. I think it's because I never thought having all 7 exes in one film would work, and while it worked a great deal better than I expected, it meant that every scene was eventful - there was no time for the scenes in the comic that did nothing but build up characterisation.
Still, I thought the film put a lot of characterisation into what there was, and the ending was brilliant despite differing from the comic (in which the Knives vs Ramona fight occurs books earlier)

Also, the Kim backstory deserved a lot more than the short explanation it got. Adult Swim made an animation for it, totally worth checking out:

Oh it totally is. When I read the first few books, I had Kasabian's album "Empire" on repeat and it really stuck so I put it on when I read the rest too. I thought that, on a personal level, the film's soundtrack would inevitably be a disappoint because it wasn't Kasabian's Empire! But all credit to Beck and co., they knock it out of the park. In the film you only get to hear snippets of the songs - I'd totally recommend checking out the full album. There's a channel on youtube that has a lot of the songs:
