Monday Night at Kings Place: OUT HEAR
JIM CUOMO AND THE 8-BIT RETROVOLUTION
Curated by Sargasso:C
Composer/saxophonist Jim Cuomo is a legend. In the 80's, having worked with everyone from John Cage to Marianne Faithfull, he began writing music for some classic early 8-bit Amiga and Gameboy computer games. He has recently become a cult 'father' figure for a whole new generation of retro 8-bit sound enthusiasts. Today he still uses these old machines to produce and perform elaborate contemporary compositions. Tonight, Cuomo's first London concert in many years, he performs some of his 'Greatest Bits' in collaboration with other Sargasso artists and special guest. Old and new technologies meet, marry and live happily ever after. Not to be missed!

We have a few complimentary tickets available to Taro Hakase Christmas Concert with the English Chamber Orchestra string ensemble at Cadogan Hall on Friday 3rd December
Join Japan’s leading violinist, Taro Hakase, and members of the English Chamber Orchestra for a special Christmas concert. An enjoyable evening’s entertainment for the whole family!

Taro Hakase - violin
Maciej Janas - piano

Programme:
Ravel: Pavane pour une infante défunte
Handel: Sonata
Massenet: Intermezzo meditation from opera 'Thais'
Sarasate: Zigeunerweisen

The eclectic programme will include popular classical pieces, Christmas favourites and some of Taro’s own compositions.

Conducted by Alexander Briger, who worked for many years with Sir Charles Mackerras.

‘Mozart and Myslivecek in Prague’ celebrates the forgotten story between two masters for whom this spell-bounding city was an important source of inspiration and encouragement.

Dvorak’s Czech Suite provides the perfect curtain-raiser to this exciting programme which focuses on the Czech influence on music from the early classical era to the late 19th century.

Probably the best-known and most loved of Mozart’s piano concertos, No.21 in C, with its poignant middle movement, sits elegantly alongside the powerful Prague Symphony No. 38 - the composer’s own heart-felt tribute to that city.

Joseph Myslivecek, much admired by Mozart, but abandoned in history, is brought to light for one of very few times since his death in 1781. Myslivecek’s superb flute concerto in G major was recently discovered hiding in manuscript form in a university library in Wroklaw Poland and will be premiered by vibrant young Australian flautist Ana de la Vega. The concerto radiates that same joyful love of life as the music of his more famous counterpart.

An invitation to see Georges Feydeau’s A Flea In Her Ear Open Dress, Saturday 4th December at 2.00pm, The Old Vic Theatre.

The show is opening on the evening of Saturday 4th December, so this is a unique opportunity to see the finished production for free before anybody else.

Richard Eyre directs Tom Hollander and Lisa Dillon in the eccentric much loved comedy that mixes madness, mayhem, fun and frivolity. Set in the decadent surroundings of Belle Epoque Paris, Feydeau’s quintessential farce promises to be an exhilarating performance of mistaken identities and comic disaster.

PLACES ARE LIMITED: Please RSVP to this email address by 3pm tomorrow, Friday 3rd December.
