You must share some of your interviewing technique, pxc, as it obviously worked like a charm!

Speaking of interviews, I just found an email from the London 2012 Gamesmaker (volunteer) organisation inviting me for a 90 minute interview! Eek!

I think it is just be yourself, be passionate and confident about what you are able to do, your skills and abilities, know your CV back to front, find out a bit beforehand about the company, asks questions, and if you can't think of any, I always say, I think you have answered my questions already when you mentioned etc etc whatever they were talking about, as that was what I wanted to know etc etc ... be brief, don't waffle, talk at a conversational pace, not too fast, be clear and do not mumble, look interested in what they are saying....if they comment nice things about your CV say thank you. Handshake before and after interview, say it was nice meeting them and thank them for inviting you to the interview. And above all keep smiling!

One of the interviewers yesterday was absolutely deadpan - incidentally - he is the guy who founded viagra! And I managed to tease a smile out of him - success! Yep, you guessed it, I am going to work for a phamaceutical company and will be starting in a week's time. It is brilliant, as it is local too. So a perfect start to a new year!

I just got an out-of-office email from someone. It said:

'AFTERNOON OFF'.

No, 'Sorry I am out of the office this afternoon, I will be returning tomorrow morning. If your matter is urgent, please contact Nicholas Clegg on blah blah.'

OK, I wasn't contacting David Cameron, but to purely state 'AFTERNOON OFF' doesn't seem professional if clients are emailing you.

I can't remember now - it was something to do with his Scottishness?

Although I was asked by the last interviewer if I was able to understand the two Scots that were before him. And I said, I did, they both spoke perfect English! That made him smile (I could hear it in his voice as it was a phone interview).
