Are there some East Londoners on here who have been inconvenienced by the construction of the stadium?
Any thoughts welcome!

Not only the stadium but a huge Westfield centre next to it. Traffic around there is a nightmare now I dread to think what it will be like when it is all open. Everyone I know in the local area wants to get away when the olympics are on.
We live by the West Ham ground so will be affected by their move to the olympic stadium. We had months of sleepless nights when they were constructing a new stand and lifting girders in place in the early hours of the morning.
Now we face the prospect of it all being demolished and something else built in its place. I only hope it is something useful to the locals (a cinema maybe

) that will not create any extra traffic as Green Street was originally a country lane and it cannot cope with today's levels of traffic let alone any more.

Sorry to hear that bevvy. Hope they will build a cinema as compensation!
Wouldn't that be great, and with loads of free film screenings!

I just hope that with those prices they won't chuck you out between one session and an other but I guess it's pretty vain.
It looks quit usual here in England to try to maximise the cash in for every event (i.e. the two semifinals of the Tennis Masters @ O2 last November were sold as two separate events...); I remember a couple of yeras ago at the IAAF world champinship in Berlin we pa*d something like 30 Euros for the whole day (and that included Usain Bolt's 200m final). The entry level price for the FINA world championship in Rome last year were something like 40 Euros with the morning sessions at no more than 10 (including Tom midgy Daly in diving).
So once again I think they are trying to squeeze the most they can from Londoners, and since there are a lot of rich people around here they can afford to do that... I personally think I will only apply for some cheap morning sessions (see Metro insert today) and watch the rest on telly and save the big money to travel to target specific events far far away from London (probably a flight to Korea including accomodation and the top seats for the final of 100m is still cheaper than the 725 quid that you will need to watch it at the Olympics... ish...)

I disagree with you birovr, there aren't so many rich people here in London. Yes there are some very wealthy people but I think the majority just about make ends meet.

I am in no doubt most of these won't sell out, so there should be a shed load of competitions.

Not necessarily. I suspect they will be given as corporate tickets.

a-Person -- I was just going to write the same thing. No doubt the bankers will be getting lots of free tickets which they no doubt deserve as their little, tiny bonuses will not cover the cost of actually b*ying tickets.

Fair enough, but still it looks to me that on average sport events are much more pricy in this country that anywhere else (e.g. Wimbledon and ATP Finals for Tennis - Twickenham for 6 nations rugby - NBA @ O2 - ...) and regardless the price they are always manage to be sold out. Probably as you pointed out due to the inflation of bankers and corporate tickets

Another one here who can't wait for it all to be over. I don't understand why Londoners have to p*y the brunt of this in their Council Tax.
It will not benefit me, I live on the other side of London.
I haven't the slightest interest in going, not that I'd be likely to get a ticket
Why am I being told to find other ways to get to work for those weeks? I p*y my travel card and will struggle to get into work because of this. Apparently The Central line will be badly affected.
The Stadia etc, will end up being White Elephants that we will have to p*y for for years like The Dome. Fair enough West Ham will get the main one apparently but there will still be a lot of places that will end up unused.
The best tickets seats events etc will go to Corporate Bookings, like most things over here
I could go on butr I better do some work hehe
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks
