I've been indulging into the wonderful world of progressive rock recently. The elaborate instrumentals, peculiar lyrics and overall technical proficiency and strangeness of the genre entices me. I wonder if anyone else feels the same. By prog rock I mean the old wave of bands like Yes, [early] Genesis, Pink Floyd, King Crimson and Van Der Graaf Generator amongst others. Don't feel ashamed to say yes, we're all friends here

lol i'll admit prog rock does sound pretty self possessed. Marillion begins to rake after a while, and Pink Floyd can start sounding a bit samey after several songs. thats probably why its good for studying.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

I like Pink Floyd, Echoes onwards, and used to like things like Hawkwind and Yes. Until I b*ght a Yes album for nostalgia's sake and was like WTF No not for me anymore. Still like Floyd though
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks
Having grown up in the years before punk arrived, I count myself very lucky to have been indoctrinated in prog rock during my formative years - the pop alternatives at the time such as Sweet and The Glitter Band were very light-weight and just didn't do much for me! Got to see Yes (twice), Genesis and Pink Floyd live at the time and was always amazed at the whole spectacle.
I still have 'nostalgia days' listening to albums from the time, some of it now comes over as pretentious lyrically, but much has stood the test of time well IMHO.
I once went hiking with M. C. Escher. It was uphill all the way there and uphill all the way back.
