Re: Monsters
Facebook message from Jameson Cult Film Club for anyone that didn't get in:
We sincerely apologise to all of those who were turned away from our Monsters event last night. We had a much higher than expected turn out. We use attendance figures at previous Jameson Cult Film Club events to gauge numbers and the event last night was more popular than previous events. We really want to make it up to you so please send an email to webmaster@jamesoncultfilmclub.com and we will be in touch. Thanks.

Re: Monsters
They should offer priority tickets for the next event, really feel sorry for people waiting an hour and then not getting in!

Re: Monsters
its amazing what a difference 20 mins can make. I got there about 18.10 and got in, Cruk got there at 18.30 and didn't. What they should have done is estimate the numbers in the queue and then go down the queue and tell people waiting that there's not much of a chance of getting in, then take names.
Anyone remember the Dorian Gray debacle?

Re: Monsters
Yeah, it wouldn't have been that difficult (especially considering that the queue was going all around the block)... Probably thay didn't even bother checking up front... so they waited to get 600 people in and then realise the queue was still massive.valda wrote:What they should have done is estimate the numbers in the queue and then go down the queue and tell people waiting that there's not much of a chance of getting in
Well I'll drop a line to their address and see what happens (thanks kp for that).
Re: Monsters
Well that was a cold night. Got there at about 6pm so was close to the front but feet were blocks of ice by the time they opened the doors and being yelled at by a soldier with a fake rifle was a bit unnerving! I may have slugged down my Jamesons a little too quickly in effort to warm up. Fell asleep after 30 min (v long week, very little sleep and too much whisky) and woke up when at the end of the film!
So I can safely say I have no idea if the film was any good.
I enjoyed the Hunterian museum afterwards though.

I enjoyed the museum too, but was most disappointed that the thing where you can see if you could operate on someone, was brokendovetail wrote:Well that was a cold night. Re: Monsters
The wife and I booked a couple of nights in London around this screening and were really looking forward to it. We flew down from Glasgow on the Thursday afternoon and by the time we checked into our hotel, managed to make it for about 6:45pm to find it queued right round the block. When the queue started moving we got as far as the resturant on the corner (after about 1hr), when we were informed it was full. Got our break of to a poor start, managed to get a couple of tickets for 'Ghost Stories' at the Duke of Yorks Theatre on the Friday night so not a total loss. Will email Jameson Cult Club and hope they take note of film fans who travel a fair distance (and expense) to get to their events.

Re: Monsters
My goodness!!! That has to be the furthest anyone's travelled to attend a free screening!!! That's dedication for ya!!! Kudos, ace, but I'm really sorry you didn't make it to the screening after all that!

Member Number 69 of the 100 movies in 2019 Club. Lets see how we get on with this..... fingers crossed.
Re: Monsters
One could almost start a new topic "what is furthest you have travelled for a free screening"?
