Re: Billy no mates - Manchester
eek - hope i havent upset people who go on their own or with younger friends.
its not just the going on my own that was bothering me. i'm tight fisted as well.
if i have to drive 40 mins (there/back) to get to a cinema, then p*y £3.30 parking for one £7 cinema ticket kinda takes the fun out of it a bit.......i'm not painting a very good picture of myself here
am i? lol ....tight fisted, no friends, and fussy

be going with people too much younger than myself, more for their sake really,
as i would probably bore them with my conversation (and people can get the wrong idea)
But steve i would very much like to meet up with you guys /gals - sorry if i sounded picky

Re: Billy no mates - Manchester
I think it's a good idea to meet up with the Mancunian FMUKers as you then have a ready-made group of people you will probably meet over and over again. If I had to go to the cinema without OH I would probably enquire everytime who else is going to the cinema in question and ask to sit next to them as it's kind of more fun for me to sit with other people I know (for a start I know they will most probably adhere to the Wittertainment Cinema Code of Conduct!). And one seat is easier kept than two.

Everyone is so busy accusing one another of racism but when it comes to age, they hide it and make it up as nobody's business.
Sad, very sad!
I 've heard people saying "The Beatles...who?"
I come from a remote country famous only by its dictator and oil and I danced with frenzy every song, cried it and drove my parents bonkers and you, that were b*ght up here the same place were they came from, are going to tell me you didn't know them or their songs ...what planet do you come from? They are too old, it would give you away...
I am past my 100 years according to Facebook/FMUK and if I have to go alone because superior people don't like me... well... proud to be alone. Pity one ticket goes to waste.

Re: Billy no mates - Manchester
I sometimes go alone if OH is away and no one wants to see the film I have tickets for. Never been bothered by it. It was the film I wanted to see.
Did manage to get a friend at work to see the Monsieur Lazhar film with me but no takers for 'jeff who lives at home'. Didn't see self as billy no mates more 'if I want it, do it'.
Do agree with you about the perseption of others though. In my job description its written that I should not 'bring the 'place name' into disripute', so no more bad girl stuff

Re: Billy no mates - Manchester
The first time I ever went to a Film preview, I went alone. A lovely family talked to me, and now they have become friends and we meet regularly.
If, however, they do not want to attend, or I want to see something different, I go on my own...No problem to me.
PS they are all younger too.

POST REVIVAL - Hi its me again - used to be billy-no mates, now I'm Billy-great mates. I'm so glad I posted this back in the day, as if I didn't I wouldn't have met akh43, steve, Betty Botter, yogi and diane65 and their friends and family members. I've lost count of the number of films and other events we've seen together now - probably 100+, and what a great group of friends they are.............. and I didn't even have to show them my mankini photos..........................I'm saving them for a special occasion

Couldn't agree more Baty. I quite enjoy going on my own as it helps me switch off (unplug from the Matrixbaty wrote:I sometimes go alone if OH is away and no one wants to see the film I have tickets for. Never been bothered by it. It was the film I wanted to see.

Re: Billy no mates - Manchester
I have no probs going to a film alone . . . particularly if I am p*ying!
In the Glasgow area it would be unusual for one not to meet other FMUKers as many of us do know each other now. Any new Glasgow FMUKers only have to look to the back row and generally you will find a group of us there!
