Re: Hotel Transylvania
I saw this at The Printworks thanks to Beate...I was also a bit surprised by the large amount of empty seats.
My little lad loved it...I also found it good fun and big hearted. Great voice work from Steve Buscemi and Fran Drescher.

Re: Hotel Transylvania
I quite enjoyed the opening two acts, but I hated act three pretty strongly. Still, nowhere near as bad as I'd fear based on Sandler's involvement.

Re: Hotel Transylvania
Saw this today in London at the Sony Preview Theatre. I had today off and it was lovely to see Celini, ejwrank, funthing and a_person. All in the daylight too for a change.
This was a fun harmless film. It looked beautiful and with lots of references to the old black and white Hollywood horror films. Lots of slapstick comedy and some funny moments. There were two things that let this film down. The human stoner character and the love story that ran through and hammered home at the end.
The best bits were the zombie extras, they stole the movie for me.
A great kids movie especially with the colourful characters and slapstick comedy. Now to see if I can make it tonight to see Frankenweenie.

Re: Hotel Transylvania
I saw this and the FMUKers (except tsoiboy
) today too. I watched it mostly in 2D cos I couldn't get the 3D glasses to work
apparently they need to be at a specific angle. I don't think I missed much and at least I didn't have a sore nose at the end as I usually do. The monsters were lovely and the animation gorgeous. There wasn't much of a story although the voice actors were good and the slapstick fun was enjoyable. I absolutely adore animation and although I enjoyed this it probably wouldn't make my top 10. But it was great to have the opportunity to see it and the Sony theatre is very comfortable so quite a treat in itself.

Re: Hotel Transylvania
Oh the Sony Theatre! Officially my best place to watch a movie in Central London.
I was not a big fan of Hotel Transylvania unfortunately; I laughed few times but neither the characters nor the story brought anything special. It should work well with kids though.
In the first few minutes when Drac was speaking I could not stop thinking about Gru (Despicable Me, voiced by the excellentissim Steve Carell); unfortunately few minutes later, Adam Sandler awful voice took over and I could not stop picturing him

Re: Hotel Transylvania
Not a particularly intelligent children's film. The laughs were few and far between. Animation was very mediocre. 3D was pointless. Steve Buscemi was the only decent voice actor.

Re: Hotel Transylvania
ok this was good fun, but it really relies on one gag for most of the movie - being a monster out of place. Not sure you can spin that out for a sequel, so hopefully this will remain a one-off movie.
Echoes of the last decade in computer animation here, Drac reminded me of Gru of Despicable Me, Frankenstein straight out of Monsters, Inc, Mavis looked a doppelganger for the girl outta Monsters V Aliens and the whole monster thing was a rehash of a certain green ogre quadrilogy. A weak plot (forbidden love story) is pasted over with enough visual gags to keep it funny for 60 minutes before the weak lovie story ending and the ever so Donkeysque karaoke party at the end. Not quite as good as all these classics, it runs close, but no Shrekgar.
but please no sequels.

doppelganger for the girl outta Monsters V Alien
I kept thinking of Violet from the incredibles
Quite enjoyed this, loved the over exaggerated dracula and ofcourse everyones got to love yet another poke at twilight.
Thought all the characters worked really well, loved the pouty bat face!
Very enjoyable kids film, may have to get it on dvd when i need a brainless film.
