Re: Good Luck Selby Community Cinema
Hi Everyone,
Thank you so much for your kind words, its really lovely to have your support
.
Last night was incredible, what a night! We sold out the week before but added 15 extra seats so not to disappoint too much…Lol sold them, then another five said they were happy to Stand (but just added a seat at the end of the rows), but just staggering to see the hall so full.
We introduced the film as our pilot and work in motion The atmosphere was positive, the audience wanted the new project to work, it was so enriching and certainly gave our confident a boost with so many positive smiling faces.
People sang along to the songs, it got quite deafening with Mamma Mia but so funny too, I’m sure my throat is more sore from laughing. They clapped along and even danced at the end, with a big cheer as the titles rolled
. Words cannot express just how much fun the evening was.
The only draw back was a sound hipcup in the first few moments when the sound dipped but only for a couple of seconds but that was scary enough…ekk but we were a pilot, and it’s a leaning curve but people didn’t seem to mind; they showed us and told us they had a great night.
The press arrived and took lots of photos so I’ll update when they get printed. We also sold quite a few tickets for the other films on the night too; I’m sure the audience realised that b*ying them on the night could be risky.
So its now the calm after the storm and we are all shattered but incredibly happy that Punkygal’s mention of the British Federation Film Society showing a free screening in York could lead us to this idea of our own. Selby is a large county but only has a relatively small town with very few facilities (no cinema too)…its looks like we started this venture at just the right time
Thank you all for your help with film selection, constant well wishes and support, we are all very appreciative and want to thank FMUK for leading us the way
.
Kind regards always, Selby Globe Community Cinema

Congratulations on your well-deserved success. Your audience must really be looking forward to the next film and you will probably be in demand to advise other communities on how to follow suit.

Re: Good Luck Selby Community Cinema
Allsinging mentioned that there were photos being taken by the local paper, but I did not see a post to the link in the local paper.
So, here is the coverage:

I don't think the photos are working properly though.
