Really disappointed!

I watched this film last night @ The Trafford Centre, Manchester the cinema was 99.9% full it would of been 100% but a chair was out of service? It looked like SKY seriously over booked this one as quite a number of couples couldn't get seats and were turned away!

I was really excited to see "MAMA" but it was just to cheesy and predictable.

4/10 for me really disappointed

Saw this at a packed Southampton Odeon with the family and eumenides and had a little natter before film started. As for the film it was watchable not horror more jump out your seat moments .The two kids played their parts well. and the story was predictable as others have reported but a great night out.

This was excellent with some of the best cinematography I have seen in a while.

Jessica Chastain's character was a wonderful breath of fresh air in this kind of genre movie.

I do wish they had not tried SO hard for the "make the audience jump" moments....the da-da musical ques just took me out of the experience & reminded me I was watching a movie.

    that said, a solid 8/10.

    Edinburgh was packed.

Could have done without the folk next to me munching through a trough of nachos!

Good film. Enjoyed it apart from the CGI of Mama which I felt cheapened and spoiled the film.

Not terribly scary at all, but gave you plenty to think about.

    Good acting all round.

    7/10 from me.

Thanks too cliveas My Daughter and her mate got too see Mama at Greenwich 02. Her mate got stopped and asked for id . They are 16. They both really enjoyed the film. It had a good story line and horror scenes. My Daughter said in 1 part of the film She let out a loud scream and shes sorry too anyone who heard. Normally She just laughs at horror type films. They would highly recommend the film and would want it on dvd.

Not an empty seat for this at Glasgow, in fact about 20 got turned away. I can't help thinking they were the lucky ones!! This COULD have been a good movie but it all too quickly descended into silliness and bad special effects. Some bits akin to a poor copy of Tim Burton. Everyone stayed till the end, there were a few unexpected "jumps" for the audience, but not really worth driving through rush hour traffic for. 5/10 mainly coz I thought the kids were good wee actors.

Whilst it was the best (free) film I've seen so far this month, it wasn't quite as good as I hoped it would be & I thought it was far more effective when we were only given glimpses of 'Mama'.

However I still thought that it was a decent horror flavoured drama (even though I guessed the twist) and that Jessica Chastain was as reliable as always.

    A solid 6/10 from me...

All most full house in Cardiff a few single seats dotted around.
First 15 mins quite good. Children looked as if they were having a good time and acted quite well. Found everything else a bit over the top. The scary part was before the cgi, as has been said before. Didn't like the ending, it was as if they couldn't make up their minds, happy ever after or a bit more horroristics, which meant it felt botched.
The storyline had more questions than any answers given, Hammer horr has made me jump more.
    6/10

Hey! Out of 2 pages of comments yours is the only one I completely agree with. The sad thing is the movie had a lot of potential, if only someone had pointed out the plot holes and had made the characters a bit less predictable (why would the doctor go check the cabin alone AND at night???)... Thanks for a review that read my mind!

"why would the doctor go check the cabin alone AND at night???"

    it's a genre film

"why would the doctor go check the cabin alone AND at night???"

that's what happens in this genre.
