Re: Jack the Giant Slayer
The film was pretty damn good.
The O2 customer service was pretty damn bad. I don't know who told mrflunchy about the manager with the keys - we were queuing right at the top of the escalators and no one told us anything apart from "technical difficulties". We were freezing cold and completely pissed off. The Sky lady came to the door and apologised but it's not really her fault anyway. The Cineworld staff was largely hiding. There are two escalators and 1 staircase leading up to the entrance and they were all full with people queuing. We stood there for a full goddamn hour until we were finally let in! I was the first under the iron bars and racing up the escalator to the balcony which filled up pretty quickly - no surprise there. Surprisingly, the film started with only 5 minutes delay and it was a pretty quiet screening. I might still complain though - my hands and feet took forever to warm up and a complimentary tea would have been nice!
I really loved the film though I wasn't fond of the 3D. The story was nicely told with many British actors (and Stanley Tucci as a villain) and although it is not terribly original, it was still very entertaining. Mistook Ewan McGregor for Kenneth Branagh at first - must have been the beard! I could watch Nicholas Hoult for hours - he's barely recognisable from the awkward boy with the terrible haircut 10 years ago!
8.5/10

Re: Jack the Giant Slayer
What an entertaining film - was also at the O2 and queued for the best part of an hour, so was very surprised that there was little delay in the film actually starting
Really enjoyed it though - once again, not overly impressed with the 3D (I wish they would just STOP THAT, NOW!!!) - but the film was a rollicking good bounce along of entertainment and some good humour.......nice little ending too... ;o)
Left the cinema with a smile on my face
8/10

I'm looking forward to seeing it tomorrow too, when I see the reviews from today, thought I'd missed it until I checked the tickets and realised it was only the O2 today.RAZORBACK wrote:It's good to see positive feedback coming in for this film, looking forward to catching it tomorrow...

Re: Jack the Giant Slayer
We all loved it, we were at the Paisley Showcase where the sky girl was very chipper this morning. Loved the giants and the story. 9/10 from DH, DS and DD.
Re: Jack the Giant Slayer
this was fine, but 3d effects seemed to have fizzled out after about 25 mins

Re: Jack the Giant Slayer
Just got back from the screening, I thought it was pretty enjoyable although it wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped it would be (it had a decent cast but I thought Nicholas Hoult was a bit bland in the lead role).
Effects wise, the animated sequence at the start reminded me of the animated sequence at the beginning of Hellboy II but it wasn't nearly as good but the giants were very well done indeed and were easily the best thing about this flick. I also thought that the 3D added very little to the visuals so would have much preferred to have seen the 2D version.
But despite the above criticisms, I still thought it was a positive viewing experience so 'Jack The Giant Slayer' gets a satisfactory 6/10 from me...
