Rather enjoyed this film as I could remember watching Liberace on TV. Although I thought it a bit too long the performances by Michael Douglas and Matt Damon were excellent. 7/10.

Interesting. Where were you sitting?

Back from an almost full screen. There were a few spare seats dotted about. Interesting story about Liberace's private life. Being so young (well not that young) I don't really remember him as much but I do remember the huge scandals in the 80s and 90s when people found out their favourite hunky manly males stars actually prefer manly partners too. The second half definitely dragged but I reckon it is cos the first half was pretty entertaining and funny. Both leads were excellent. 7/10

I don't wish to rehearse all that has been said so far but myself and the OH are just back from the Glasgow showing and thoroughly enjoyed it!

I think it's a real shame that this film didn't receive a US theatrical release and subsequently, won't be in line for any Oscar nominations.

Sat on the left as you look at the screen on the seats that have only 2 on the row about 3/4 of the way back.

Really enjoyed this, thought that both Michael Douglas & Matt Damon were excellent and think that Rob Lowe also deserved a o/ as well.

I did find myself getting a 'Boogie Nights' vibe from this flick and more than anything else that was mainly due to Damon's character being kind of similar personality wise to Eddie Adams (aka Dirk Diggler).

I agree with others that it could have benefited from being a little tighter time wise but despite that it was still a real pleasure to catch this so overall this gets an 8/10 from me...

At the end of the film it states that Scott Thorson currently lives in Reno, Nevada. It fails to mention that he lives in prison! Lol.
Apparantly he also had his chin implant removed again in 2002.

Glad you all enjoyed it.

I didn't like it at all.

Michael Douglas was camping it up big time and he was very good. To me, Matt Damon was horribly wooden and miscast ; I really thought he was terrible in this.

It did drag on a bit, but the costumes and the music was spectacular in oh so many ways!!

Sorry but 5/10 from me.

Saw this film last night at Cineworld Wandsworth. Really enjoyed the comedy and loved Rob Lowe's cameo - hilarious! 3 out of 5 star film.

Saw this last night in Wandsworth. A great film. Having seen many of Liberace's television appearances in my youth, it was interesting to see the other side. Beyond all the charm, glitz and glamour, he was a very shallow, insecure person. Although Michael Douglas did not resemble him, I thought he did an excellent job and was totally in character. I am not normally a Matt Damon fan, but he completely blew me away in this film. Not many 42-year-olds can get away with acting a 17-year-old convincingly - but he was utterly believable. I loved watching his character grow on screen. Scott Thorson came across initially as very innocent, but once he had got used to the trappings of finery, it didn’t take him long to change into a materialistic money-grabber. Even now he is sitting in prison in Nevada awaiting sentencing (on 3 July 2013) for credit card fraud. I wonder if things would have turned out differently had he never met Liberace in the first place. I absolutely loved Rob Lowe in this (I don’t normally like him either) – every time he was on screen the audience collapsed into giggles – he should do comedy more often! I’d give it 8/10.

Full marks to the makeup department for the brilliant prosthetics. I was amused by the fact that Matt Damon had a dimple put in his chin for his role whereas Michael Douglas had to have his removed!

I was in Wandsworth too, with Aruif and Schmile . Like most of you, I though it did drag on a bit, a nice 90 mins film would have been better. How on earth Matt Damon managed to look like a 17 year old is amazing, and as for his studded swimming speedos 8O :shifty:

First half of the film was really funny, then got a bit more serious and sad. Lee really was insecure, but also a massive lectch, I was giggling away every time he leered over Matt in bed, that's what CZJ wakes up to :giggle:

Rob Lowe was a hoot, everytime he came on screen, we all laughed, how on earth he managed to operate on people when he was so stoned? 7/10
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks
