OMG!! Diane - you are showing your age!!
My mother used to complain about the price of the Saturday morning club that my sister and I went to for sixpence (old money) as she used to get in with an empty jam jar!!! The jam jar could be taken back to a shop and you would get a penny each for them so the cinema would take them instead of the money.
The treat was going to the cinema and if we were lucky my gran would maybe give us a gobstopper or a stick of rhubarb rock to take with us.

We used to go to 'Saturday Morning Pictures' .. can't remember how much it was, but I know that they used to play the National Anthem just before the film started and it was tradition for the whole cinema of kids to stomp their feet as quickly as possible throughout!! Looking back, not very patriotic!!!

I used to take back to the Newsagent, empty bottles of fizzy and get some money back!! Shame we don't get pa*d to recycle now - I'd earn a fortune!!!

I have 3 kids and even with taking our own snacks i reckon if it wasn't for the likes of FMUK then going as a family to see a film would be a rarity, I would love to see Glasgow Cinemas try to stop people taking their own snacks , there would be blood shed that's for sure

A bookstore is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking. (Jerry Seinfeld)

Kids snack packs are £3 at Breahead odeon. So if they weren't greedy buggers the cost of b*ying snacks for all 4 would be £12. I usually get the kids a snack pack and take my own drink so £4 total. Cineworld and showcase ate both very overpriced for kid's packs so we just take our own or just b*y one popcorn for the 3 salted popcorn lovers to share. I think as we do go to the cinema a lot we are better prepared usually, even on a day trip I'll pack snacks or a picnic.

yes the article does seem needlessly harking on about high costs of food since I'm not sure why people don't walk into Poundland before hand for snacks, it doesn't take much organisation to do.
tickets remain at a prohibitive price for me, however.
