Well you might like it, I read some people have compared the film to Coen Brother's film. Well it does have that kind of tone in places. Then again sometimes the films from the Coen Brothers annoy me too, although one of their films that I really liked is The Hudsucker Proxy. And George Clooney does act/look like his character in O brother where art thou.

I saw the trailer on Sunday at Dr Parnassus - I wasn't too impressed to be honest with you.

Oh I forgot to say it's also a coming of age/new age film too, as well as comedy, documentary, war film. Weird combination isn't it?

Re: The Men Who Stare at Goats
I just had an email from Lovefilm telling me that I'd won a pair of tickets to their preview screening of this next week.
I would have to try and leave work early in order to get back to London on time, and I'm not sure whether it's worth all the effort given some of the reviews here.
I'm not usually a fan of 'weird' films, they often just annoy me. Although I do remember the trailer for this raised a smile when I saw it recently, so I just don't know.

Ah give it ago, it is abit "weird" but the ending is quite nice.
Re: The Men Who Stare at Goats
I went to see it tonight at the Prince Charles. There was an after Q&A with the author of the book. I loved the film I thought it funny but then when the Q&A came Jon Ronson didn't want to compromise and just spoke about the "weird things" he saw while he was in the militar. Dissapointing Q&A. Very good film though.

Re: The Men Who Stare at Goats
I went to the Lovefilm screening last night, and enjoyed the film more than I expected to. Some of the audience seemed to be in stitches the whole way through, but I wasn't that enamoured with it.
I did think it was funny, but then I did catch myself wondering whether I should be laughing so much at a war. I thought George Clooney did well. His comedy moustache was a character in itself!
I was distracted by wondering how much was fact and how much was fiction, and how much 'fact' could ever be proven as such.
Ewan McGregor's 'American' accent was hopeless and distracting, and if the character was supposed to be based on author John Ronson why wasn't he actually English?
The Q&A after the film was a tad disappointing. I don't know who the interviewer was, but whimsical questions about John Ronson living next-door to some celebrity that I hadn't heard of (Neve Campbell - she was in Scream apparently) were a waste of time for me, when i was far more interested in the weird stories he could tell. I was a bit miffed that John Ronson almost told us some juicy stories, but then backed off because he was worried they would leak onto the internet. Spoilsport!
6/10 from me

Re: The Men Who Stare at Goats
John ronson is quite short and quirky isn't he? The screenwriter is also English (Peter Straughan).
