Saw this on Boxing Day. Can't believe the hype it's had, as well as the constellations of 5* reviews. I thought it was awful. Technically brilliant, yes, but I didn't give a hoot about any of the characters and found the whole premise dull. I had a similar response to Map to the Stars too. I guess films about Hollywood actors aren't my thing. But critics seem to love them.

Can't believe I'm only three days into the new year and already I may just have seen my favourite film of 2015 8O .

Collectively the cast are so three dimensional & realistic this feels more like a documentary than a work of fiction and in addition to that individual scenes are joined together so seamlessly you'd be forgiven for thinking the entire movie was shot in no more than one or two takes.

Michael Keaton unquestionably gives a career best performance but Edward Norton comes very, very close to stealing the show and Emma Stone (an actress I usually don't have a lot of time for) is absolutely note perfect in her role.

Admittedly this film won't be for everyone but as far as I'm concerned this is a flawless comedic drama that did more than enough to deserve a 10/10 from me  ...

Saw this at back end of 2014 and so it can be correctly termed my favourite film of the year. Bravura film-making of the highest order; it should clean up at the Oscars. Quite simply astounding on every level. 10/10.

clever bit of filmmaking. good performances and good story about some crabby, bitchy characters, don't be fooled into thinking theres a superhero in sight at all here. Not sure I'd see it again despite the quality on display, the actors were I suspect sometimes playing a bit too close to reality and were rarely likeable!
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

I agree, acting was great, cinematography was great, but something was missing to make me love it. Imitation game is my favourite for the oscars I think, not this.

Very impressive indeed and I found the camerawork mesmerising. I can see why it is not to everyone's taste but I thought it was excellent with some brilliant performances. 9/10.

Finally got round to seeing this tonight, and I'd heard so many negatives that I was not sure if it would be something I would like or not. But I was pleasantly surprised - indeed, I really enjoyed it.

I am always rubbish at recognising cast members, but this was a great cast - cannot believe Emma Stone was so right in this role (amazing casting), and Lindsay Duncan, was also ideal. Did not recognise Andrea Riseborough, but again, perfect casting. Edward Norton was good, but actually I think he has been better in other roles.

It had a weird sense of humour - bit like me! I could not say I understood everything that was going on, but I came out with a smile on my face, and only looked at my watch once.

If you are wondering if you should see it, there is only one way to find out - as others have said, it is a marmite film. I'm really glad I went.

Saw this yesterday because it is being quoted as a possible Oscar winner . . .didn't fancy p*ying for it as I didn't think I'd like it but saw it for free using a voucher. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised and did like the film though I certainly don't think it will appeal to everyone. We were in an audience of 5 and 2 left after 40 minutes. The acting was generally very good though not my choice for Oscars.
Glad I did see Birdman.

A brilliant performance from Michael Keaton and I did find some parts of the film funny. But I didn't get it and thought it was quite boring! 5/10
