Plus did I see a really terribly inserted archive performance from a 70s band (Earth, Wind and Fire maybe) at the party scene or did I dream that
Nope you didn't dream that. I was sure it was archive footage! I loved all the music in this film, anything that starts with Papa Was a Rolling Stone gets my vote

Really want to watch this. Big fan of Shane Black's Kiss Kiss Bang Bang but a lot of people don't get the noir comedy style so not surprised it's getting mixed reviews.

Watched this tonight and i'm falling into the unsure camp. I wasnt really sold on the pairing of Crowe and Gosling, it started slowly and awkwardly but was almost paletable by the end. There was laughs but too few, and the plot was just a bit silly and didnt really p*y off.

Could have been much better, maybe a sequel could improve - 6/10

Disappointing! Maybe I expected too much but I felt they missed an opportunity as it could have been so much better. It needed more witty dialogue and more action.... it was clumsy and slow. These two good actors could do better....mind they were good but the whole script could have done with a rewrite.

I really enjoyed the film! Was at the premiere as well and seeing Ryan a foot away from me was amazing!

Watched this film the other day and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I enjoyed it more than kiss kiss bang bang.
The little girl (not sure what her real name is) stole the movie, she was fantastic. Crowe and Gosling were awesome too.
