Re: Invictus
I saw this the week it came out in America as I was over there on holiday.
I was surprised the audience took to the topic given the Americans are not known for their rugby!
I really liked the film and thought that matt Damon and Morgan Freeman were excellent in it.
Be warned, there is a LOT of rugby in the film, so an appreciation would help but is not essential. The film uses the real Rugby World Cup footage interspersed throughout.
My husband loved the film and the rugby and went on and on how he's ssen the final and was in awe of Jona Lomu (the Huge All Black star of the 90s) - I suspect Matt Damon was glad not to be tackling him for real given Damon is only 5'10" when Francois Pinaar is actually 6'4"!!
It is an inspiring film of a true story told in good fashion, expertly by Clint Eastwood. The South African accents are pretty good too.

Re: Invictus
I thought some reviews have said Matt Damon really didn't look the part....

Re: Invictus
You are probably asking the wrong person, as I'd probably forgive Matt Damon just about anything! However, my husband did say that Damon had obviously learned rugby as he was playing properly in the bits you see him in and he has bulked up for the role. You really don't notice he's not hugely tall in the film and unless you knew I don't think you'd really notice. I did think he was the part. Hubby's cousin used to play for Scotland - but not saying that qualifies him as an expert!!!)
