We went to a cosy restaurant with an affordable but very good 5 course menu then went out at midnight to watch the fireworks, which in Germany are done by the people themselves everywhere on the streets. Strangers wish you a happy New Year on the street and you try not to get hit by a rocket, walk into a drunk person or a smashed bottle while waiting for the one or two trains an hour after 1 o clock! Got home for 2pm. We are flying home in the evening if the weather lets us - they have forecast snow!
