We're getting close to the release date for this film, and I hope that there will be some free screenings. I think it will be a gentle comedy, like Ghost Town, rather than a laugh-out-loud film.

I've only seen one competition for it so far. Applied but I'm sure it will be no luck (as always!). Lol.

You are on a winning streak, a_person! Remember, you've got to be in it, to win it! You are fortunate that you can enter the London Premiere competitions and actually attend. That's an unrealistic prospect for most of us on this site! :D

I think Ricky Gervais is very funny in a unique "mickey taking of the real world" way. His Office and Extras are classics imho. However, I dont think he is cut out for starring roles in feature length movies. As a character actor he would be great but he is best served in smaller doses!

I actually hope, selfishly, that all his hollywood movies flop, so he can go back to making more classic British sitcoms

Given that I really enjoyed Ghost World and he only starred, him with co-writing and co-directing status is only going to be that we expect a better film, so if it's not that good I'll be rather disheartened, but looking at the trailer it feels lacking in any emotional depth.

I shall go, too, if it gets good reviews, but it will have to join my backlog, which is several films long. I would be interested to see Ricky Gervais as I have never seen him in anything so have no idea what he is like as an actor.

I agree, if for different reasons. I'm not a fan of his... can't bear The Office, Extras was good, but he was terrible in a film I saw that I can't recall (not Stardust, although he irritated me in that too). Plus he's just so RUDE! I know he thinks it's funny but is there a normal human under the comedy front? I remember him on JRoss - he was so prickly and awkward! I know, I know, he is loved my many (all of you are MAD! ;)) and there are others as irritating as him (Russell Brand anyone?) but... argh he's just SO ANNOYING!!! :wall:

My advice, Ms Thrifty, is don't do it!!! ;)

Sorry, rant over.
