Russian traffic is the Pitts

Police in Russia have come up with a novel way to slow down traffic in one of the country's busiest roads - they use a cardboard cut out of Brad Pitt.
Russian traffic police have erected cut outs of the Fight Club actor in most dangerous intersection of Omsk, reports The Press Association.
Strangely, the bizarre ploy seems to have worked. Motorists are so so stunned to see the 'actor' they slow down to get another look.
The offical who came up with the idea, Dmitry Ziryanov, said, "(He) is kind of like a colleague for us."

Talk about a Pitt stop.

Arnie's plane makes emergency landing
Mon 22 Jun 8:20 AM

Arnold Schwarzenneger suffered an air scare after his plane was forced to make an emergency landing after smoke appeared in the cockpit.

The Terminator star and now Governor of California was ten minutes into his flight when the pilot spotted smoke in the cockpit. The airplane was surrounded by fire crews when it immediately landed at Van Nuys airport, near Los Angeles.
While it was high drama indeed, it didn't seem to make much of an impact on the Hollywood action star. He wrote on his Twitter account, "A little adventure just now when my plane had to make an emergency landing. All's okay though."

His spokesperson added, "The Governor's jet was diverted after the pilot reported smoke emanating from the instrument panel in the cockpit.

"Everybody landed safely and unharmed."

No credit crunch for the SATC girls.

Credit crunch be damned, the Sex and the City sequel will still be as glamorous as ever - according to the film's stylist.
Sarah Jessica Parker has made repeated claims that it would be "inappropriate" for her to wear the lavish designer clothes her character is famous for because of the global economic crisis.

However, the film's stylist Patricia Fields insists she has no plans to tone down the franchise's famous luxurious look.
She said, "I wouldn't do it. Of course the four girls are going to be fabulous and flamboyant - otherwise what's the point? I want to do it the other way. I'd be like, 'Forget your troubles'.
"I don't use the recession as a reference for my creativity."

Jolly good! :D

Oscar expands best pic noms to 10
Ganis announces change to Academy Awards

The Motion Picture Academy announced Wednesday that for the first time in more than 65 years, the field of best picture nominees will be expanded to 10 contenders for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards.

“Having 10 best picture nominees is going allow Academy voters to recognize and include some of the fantastic movies that often show up in the other Oscar categories but have been squeezed out of the race for the top prize,” said Acad prexy Sid Ganis in announcing the shift. “I can’t wait to see what that list of 10 looks like when the nominees are announced in February.”

The last time the Oscar race featured 10 best pic contenders was the 16th annual contest in 1943, when "Casablanca" emerged with the top prize. There were 10 best pic noms for most of the Academy Awards' first decade. In 1935 there was a bumper crop of 12 nominees.

Acad's decision will undoubtedly add heat to next year's Oscar campaigning, especially in a year when no obvious front-runners have emerged in the first half. The move also comes on the heels of biz complaints that the Acad's rule of limiting the pic nominees to the top five vote-getters elbows out some of the more popular titles, such as last year's B.O. champ "The Dark Knight."

Oscar noms will be announced Feb. 2 with the awards handed out March 7 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.

andrews wrote:Murphy is riddled by Batman rumours! 8O

Don't expect to see Eddie Murphy don the Riddler costume anytime soon - he's laughed off the rumours. (Thank Goodness)
The Nutty Professor star has been constantly linked to the Riddler role for the new Batman movie, but insists he has never been approached by Warner Bros.
He said, "I've heard that rumour as well and I don't know anything about it. Whoever is really playing The Riddler is sitting at home calling his agent going, 'We've got to get this rumour stopped.'
However, Murphy admits he is desperate to play a part in the hugely popular franchise.
"I would love to be in one of those Batman movies. Jim Carrey did The Riddler once and he did a wonderful job. Egghead, I could be Egghead."

We will wait with baited breath. :shifty:

Johnny Depp To Play Riddler?

Johnny Depp adds more fuel to the Batman fire by admitting that he would take on the role of the Riddler in a third Batman movie.

The actor also said that he would love to work alongside Christian Bale once again after the pair teamed up for Public Enemies, which is released next week.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight he said: "I don't know, I've been asked about it here and there.

"I'd love to do another film with Christian in any capacity, whether it's a Batman thing or whatever it is, I certainly loved the series."

Yesterday it was revealed that Michelle Pfeiffer wanted to reprise her role as Catwoman, a role she played in Batman Begins, in a new movie.

With Christian Bale in the lead role and Christopher Nolan behind the camera has revitalised the Batman franchise, The Dark Knight dominated the box office last summer grossing over $1 billion.

Now let me see...... Eddie Murphy or Johnny Depp?

Sorry, Eddie.

I think I need to start a thread dedicated to Robert Downey Jr. This chap is really growing on me. :D

Robert Downey Jr's Robot Rescue

Robert Downey Jr. saved a film extra from a rampaging robot.

The 44-year-old actor halted shooting on 'Iron Man 2' and rushed to help the man, who had been injured during a scene.

A source said: "Robert charged into a live scene yelling, 'Cut! Cut!' The extra was writhing on the ground in agony after a rampaging evil robot smashed him flat."

The extra had been involved in a sequence which saw a group of people running away from a group of robotic villains.

Although the man was accidentally hit by a stuntman in an iron costume, filming continued because no-one noticed he was in pain.

The source added to the National Enquirer magazine: "Cameras kept cranking until Robert, who wasn't in the scene, suddenly noticed one extra twisting in pain and moaning, 'Help, I've broken something.' "

Oh, can you believe it? Really!!!

Bubbles the movie - yes you've read that right!!!

Michael Jackson's chimpanzee chum Bubbles is reportedly getting his own biopic!

The 26-year-old animal was rescued from a Texas cancer research centre in 1985 by Jackson, and both were regularly seen wearing matching costumes. But eventually Bubbles had to be taken to a sanctuary in 2003 after becoming too aggressive.
However, following Jackson's death Bubble's new owner Bob Dunn is claiming that there have been several 'mega bucks' offers for a movie of his life.

"There's a lot of interest. Bubbles has led an interesting life. There's lots to say.

"Bubbles and Michael were close friends and playmates. Their bond was unique.

"Bubbles missed him when they parted and will miss him now. Chimpanzees remember people and stuff. The last time Michael visited Bubbles recognised him."

This sort of rumour just beggars belief, doesn't it? 8O

Nighy to star in Potter movie! (about time too :D )

Bill Nighy has confirmed he will star in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
The Love Actually star had once said that he "was the only British actor that hasn't been asked to appear in Harry Potter".

He has finally got his wish though, revealing that he will star in the final instalment of the best selling franchise.
He told The Independent, "I don't think I'm allowed to say it but I'm going to be in the next Harry Potter film. I won't say which character, but he's a goodie.
"I just got the gig."

Acording to the Insider Fords gonna do Indie 5!

http://www.theinsider.com/news/2358604_ ... ones_again

Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford is set to reprise his role as the legendary explorer - despite being almost 70.

Harrison, who turns 67 later on this month, will play the role of Indy in the fifth film in the series and it is claimed it will be his last performance as the adventurer.

It is claimed filming will not start until next year, and it will not be released before 2011, when the star will be 69.

A source said: “Harrison has kept himself in good shape and could still do a lot of the stunts in the last film.”

The source added: “But it’s obviously not going to get any easier the older he gets. He certainly would never have imagined playing Indiana Jones when he was nearing 70!

Baldwin's Congress fears

Alec Baldwin fears his colourful personal life will hamper his chance of a career in politics.
The Departed actor has always been a keen enthusiast of politics and recently revealed that he's seriously considering running for Congress.

He told Playboy Magazine, "I'll put it this way. The desire is there, that's one component. The other component is opportunity."
Baldwin, however, concedes that unsavoury incidents such as his voicemail outburst to his young daughter could give political opponents plenty of material to use against him.
Talking about what US topical comedy show Saturday Night Live would make of him running for Congress, he added, "I'm often asked if I think about going to politics. If I do, these guys will have a field day. I've given them so much crap to use against me. If I run for political office, they'll have a forest of material to kill me with."

They're all at it - talk about a career change! But what was he doing talking to Playboy Magazine? Why not The Herald or The Tribune?
