I too was looking forward to this but I was in the National Film Theatre last night (giving in my booking form for the London Film Festival) & saw a notice saying that the upcoming preview of this had been cancelled. It said that its release had been delayed until early next year - shame!

Yes tweedledum, I've read in the Guardian today that this film will not be released in the States until February, and it misses the deadline for Oscar nominations. Of course, that will probably mean a later release date here in the UK. It's one to watch out for.

Re: Shutter Island
I happened to have checked yesterday (for release dates for several films I am hoping to see) and the UK release date was showing as 19 February. That does mean a lot of big films opening around the same time, so maybe some of them will be moved back slightly, though it may now be too late.

Re: Shutter Island
I really liked the trailer, although I think most people will say this is Scorsese at his most commercial. I was hoping for some previews but since it's opening next week, this is looking unlikely

Re: Shutter Island
I found it to be a nice cinematic interval between Scorsese and his next 'big' project. It wasn't a bad film (has Scorsese ever done a 'bad' film?), nor was it brilliant, but it filled a psychological gap for two hours. 'Shutter Island' had it's moments and ultimately, in my book, proved that despite the talent of Mr Di Caprio, he just hasn't got it within himself to keep a Scorsese psychological-thriller ticking over for two hours by himself.
