Saw this today at the Apollo lower regent street (lovely cinema), thanks to MariaLionza.

Slow moving, yet touching drama. My son and I were both moved by the teenage son struggling to come to terms with his fathers addiction and abandonment of the family & two mothers from different backgrounds, on opposite sides of the fence, finding common ground.

7/10 from me (8/10 from my son)

I think I could have shown the usher at Apollo West End a business document from work or a bit of loo roll and he would have let us in, that’s how uninterested he was! The screen was fab, high up seats with a nice incline. We were keeping phunkygal seats but the moment they came up the stairs and we removed our coats for them, someone else nearly bagged them and we had to shoo them off!

I wasn’t bored at all by the film and thought it was a moving portrait of two single mothers trying to make ends meet. The big telly was kind of typical though – you have no money but you have to have the biggest TV around! I thought there were great performances throughout but I was a bit angered by the scene with the baby in the bag: a) why would you throw out the bag in the first place, and b) did the baby have to be ok just because it was Christmas Eve or what? And are there really still people out there who fall for the “you have inherited money and all you have to p*y is a small processing fee so give me your credit card details now” scam? And what was this stuff she was trying to b*y throughout the film? Insulation for the house?

7.5/10

Ah sounds sweet, I had a look on lovefilm.com and I think Frozen River is coming out on DVD pretty soon. Is it not getting a cinema release? Well I will certainly check the film out anyway
