it wasnt too bad, whats wrong with people? the effects were awesome (ocean wave at the end) but there was definitely something missing that would have made it a decent film for anyone to watch. though the kids accents and nazi-sque attitude to the cause was a bit sickening.
the biggest problem is that it is too pure fantasy. pure fantasy works without making fun of itself, and its that lack of laughs and depth too that worsens the film for adults. adult fantasy films (you know what i mean) have characters who are ready to make fun of their world and its quirky differences from ours.
It is a childrens film aimed at children who havent outgrown the pure fantasy worlds that they eat up at their age. i think i remember being like that, so the film was ok for me. Although I would add that I prefer the Pratchett syle discworld fantasy world, where there are innumerable sly winks, jokes and nods to our own world.

Re: The Last Airbender
Disappointed with the script. Ang should be a lively and fun loving boy, and it was not portrayed in the film. Those who did not watch the cartoon is lucky in a way that there is no expectation on the movie.
Re: The Last Airbender
I think this follows the typical movie type these days of lets start slow but big and see how many movies we can get from it aiming i think for 3-4 movies not all end up making all the movies sadly Eragon would be great to see what happened next personally
I'm a huge fan of fantasy and anime so this movie really appealed to me saw it in 3D and i was taken aback at the landscapes i think for a huge risk movie taken from a childrens show it was very well done it showed a starting of a story and gave some good action i never took the kids but i know they'd have loved it as it is aimed squarely at familys and does a great job of satisfying that target audience. it was a good fantasy story that following the original cartoons cutting out some of the adventures along the way aiming at the main story line rather than the adventure side i think this could have been better as they seemed to rush through the village rescue it would have been better to just bypass that part if they had no intention of showing fightscenes or the learning of the his elements.
overall though i loved it i will be watching the next one :)

Re: The Last Airbender
I think I was the last person in the UK to see this.........
.......and frankly I wish I hadn't bothered.
The worst aspects of it without a doubt were the storyline and the characters. I simply couldn't get interested or engaged with it, and all the people in it just seemed lacklustre. The only thing that I thought was OK was the incredible scenery but by itself it failed to provide me with any real enjoyment. For me it just defined the word "Dull".
If there is a part two lurking in the wings somewhere, I'll be avoiding it at all costs (even if those costs are nil)!
3.5 out of 10.
