moondance wrote:AYBG - just been trawling this thread to see if anything about Barcelona and have to agree with Beate and others initial reservations about only one thread......... it is now getting quite long. Are you sure we can't have different threads for at least different countries? Anyone else out there feel the same about this????

Anyway, I have booked £2.99 flights to Barcelona later this month and am looking for hotel/tips etc. I have seen quite a few possible ones on tripadvisor but am getting snow blind

Looking for comfortable, not noisy and cheapish hotel in a safe area.............
I am bumping this request as it is getting lost..... :shifty:
Preferred cinemas:
Central London and North London as far north as the Hampstead Everyman including Picturehouse Hackney/Notting Hill Gate - but not Wood Green and North Finchley as they are just a bit too far.

Yes, I'd quite like different threads for different countries (or even different types of holiday  ) like we had in the old site.

I'm off to Cyprus in 2 weeks (despite losing flight tickets to Globespan! Image ) to escape this lot for a while. Was nice last year - hope its the same again. :cross:

It's my cunning plan Image- my OH gets stir-crazy & drives me nuts this time of year 'cause he can't get out on the bikes! Its a great time of year to go - it really breaks up the winter and by the time we get back spring is on the horizon. Image Its not too hot and its cheaper than going in summer.

Just got back from holidays!
spent 3 weeks in South Africa in beginning of December and after that about 2 weeks in Holland for Xmas and New Years.
both times we were visiting family, i'm from holland gf is from SA, but had never been to africa before. So was completely mesmerized by everything.
Took over a 1000 photos (including 200+ of zebra's...).
It was truly amazing, weather was good and people are friendly. Don't be scared about the stories you hear. Don't do anything stupid and you will be fine. Just be prepared as the scouts say. Holland was good as well of course. Always go to new places, even though i've lived there for so long growing up. My girlfriend wants to see everything so i'll take her to every outskirt that is worthwhile. (if you haven't heard of it, try geocaching(.com) it takes you places!).
So had a great time in december and no back at work again of course. Waiting to see some movies!

@large marge - enjoy Cyprus, sounds like a dream right now! :-)

Ah I will be back in London in a few days from holidays, I've already missed so many films in the first few weeks in Jan. It's been a really good start for free films in Jan? Well I am trying to catch up with some films on the plane anyway.

I have a week booked away in Egypt in May. 3.5 day in Cairo and 3.5 days in Sharm El Sheikh. (It really dented my bank balance :( )

Anyone know of any good excursions I can do? I want to see the pyramids, go on a ride on the Nile, camel riding, quad bikes... I think I'm being too ambitious for 7 days!!! :(
