Unlike me to ask for help! But am in dire need as i need to print something for uni ASAP, and lord behold, my wifi printer wont connect to my new laptop(and I dont have a USB cable, they make you b*y that separately naturally)

The printer itself is connected to my wifi network, if checked on the wifi configuration and in network settings, its definitely connected.
Yet on the printer wizard/set-up on my computer, it can't find my printer...
My printer is a kodak hero5.1 and my laptop is running windows 8(which by the looks of it, could be the problem, as the drivers dont seem to be configured for that yet)

any help would be MUCH appreciated!

EDIT: Just found a windows 8 configured driver on an american site, trying it now!

Have you tried renewing the IP address on your laptop, then switching the printer off and on?

My stab in the dark is that the IP addresses aren't matching up?

Windows 8... Hmm... Haven't got there myself, but assume you can still open up the command prompt by going to run and typing in cmd?

The command to release is "ipconfig /release" - warning, this will disconnect you from internet.

The command to then ask for a shiny new IP address is "ipconfig /renew".

I use this trick with my wifi printer all the time - blimmin' thing and my laptop keep refusing to talk to each other nicely. This knocks their heads together.

I have no start bar, so have no idea how to get the command prompt up >.< (this is why I hate windows 8)

I must admit I have occasional problems with wi-fi print so switch the router off at mains and switch back on and it works! Don't know why . . . but it works so I do it! I did try switching off the printer but that doesn't work so the router goes off!

OK, its connected to the router so from that you can discern the ip address which will start 192.168. Once you know the correct address you can put that into internet explorer (please use IE as some other browsers ignore local, go internet and then dump you on a search engine - worse than useless!!!). This will prove your pc can connect to the printer.

Now comes the complicated stuff.
Open printers
You said you installed the printer so right click on it and open properties.
Ports
Add port
Standard TCP/IP port
New port
Next
Type in the ip address
Next
Finish
close
apply
OK

... and now it should work.

Edit: its probably a good idea to make sure the router always uses the same ip address for the printer. Those instructions are router dependant.
