What Did You Watch Last Night?
Re: What Did You Watch Last Night?
Had a tough time picking a Dirk Bogarde film at the BFI that I could actually get to this week, so in the end went to see Modesty Blaise today. Some films are so bad that they're good. This isn't one of those! It's just baaad. At least the theme tune was catchy, but how they got Bogarde to agree to this I honestly don't know!

Dirk Bogarde was a great British actor but I never like his films much except for some classic war movies which normally has an all star cast anyway. My favourite film and performance of his is The Servant with James Fox worth watching if they are showing that.thedude wrote:Had a tough time picking a Dirk Bogarde film at the BFI that I could actually get to this week, so in the end went to see Modesty Blaise today. The Servant and Darling are both excellent films me thinks. I love him in both of them.TheyCallMeMrGlass wrote:Dirk Bogarde was a great British actor but I never like his films much except for some classic war movies which normally has an all star cast anyway. Re: What Did You Watch Last Night?
Had the misfortune of watching Almighty Thor yesterday. An awful film in every sense. In my defence it was for review purposes. I managed to get the review out of the way early this morning and it's just recently gone online http://www.thefilmpilgrim.com/reviews/a ... eview/5491
To make up for it I am now watching The Thing. An all too rare example of a remake being a classic in it's own right.

We watched that new series on Sky - Mount Pleasant. I thought it had its funny moments and I really liked Sally Lindsay's character Lisa, and felt kinda of identified with her a little. OH half thought very girly and very boring. Me thinks I shall be Sky+ that one for myself lol!

Re: What Did You Watch Last Night?
As I will be missing the previews of Crazy Stupid Love and Drive I thought I really deserved a Ryan Gosling fix
so I went for Half Nelson http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/half_nelson/
and I found this movie brillant; very moving, sad, funny at times, charming and both leads were amazing. I definitely recommend!
(I did not really help to cheer me up though

Re: What Did You Watch Last Night?
watched Smoking Aces. Methinks this director was trying to be Quentin Tarantino, and not doing a bad job of it. great but gratuitous fun.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?
