Well coincidentally, the word for cat in Chinese is "mao" but not the same "mao" as for Chairman Mao--different tones and different written characters. I learned to speak a bit of Mandarin when living in Beijing and used to guess at the tones -- heaven knows what I ended up saying but most of the time I could be understood!

I was told there are five tones in Mandarin, and each tone would mean a different word :D - so a really good example is 'ma" which could mean mum, grandma, horse, sesame, etc depending on which tone is used! Of course, if it is used in context you know whether you are talking about your mum or a horse!! I think! :D :D

oh, I see.

Actually this appointment was nothing to do with her dementia, but a follow up from her fall last October! It is a check up for osteoporosis.

We have already been to the GP last month for her annual check up and done blood tests and urine samples. They should have asked, like the GP to bring a sample, it is much easier to get her to wee first thing in the morning! ;)

I can't find the comp or the comment now, but I'm sure someone (McG?) posted about doing the Tesco easter egg comp, which can net really lucky people a Samsung Galaxy. However, the reason I'm posting is because I've just tried and was shocked by the spookily accurate street view you get if you enter the postcode of a familiar location. Google Earth could not be responsible for this - so how is it done?
