So sorry to hear of your very sad and sudden loss, pxc. In life, we only get one mother and you have taken good care of your mum for these past years . . . it was not a chore for you but something you were able to do for her with love. You were the last person to be with her and you know she was good when you left her for the night. May she rest in peace and hope you find some rest in your turmoil.

Finally notified everyone now, family, relatives, friends, just one more Uncle in the States to get hold of. Lovely messages are pouring in, mum knew a lot of people and was well loved.

My emotions are up and down, tears, grief and sadness of her passing, but love and happiness when I think how she always was. An incredible woman, wonderful and beautiful, kind and generous, and I shall miss her so much, not just because she is mum. RIP 1928-2014

Just read how old your mother was pxc and although you miss her dreadfully she lived till 86 which is not a bad age to reach. My parents died several years ago so I know how you must feel. My father was a very outgoing person, always cheery with a joke or an amusing story to tell and he was missed very much by a lot of people. Just before his funeral I read this somewhere and thought it was apt so we wrote it on the family card with our flowers. Hope it helps you.

That's lovely biggins. She would have been 86 this September, so not quite, but 85 is a very good age to reach. Although we expected mum to go at some point, but not so suddenly as she was in good health. Her last hour was very traumatic for us, as we had the paramedics trying to resuscitate her as she was having difficulty breathing, and had collapsed and turned black in front of the poor carer, who was as usual preparing her breakfast and for the day ahead. When the paramedics arrived, she still had a pulse. So now we have to wait for the post-mortem. I really thought she would live for another five more years, as she was still so healthy and strong, except for the dementia. Luckily, she had seen all her grandchildren recently, and she was so happy and alert. Everyone that have seen her recently said she was so alert, and, even her other carers, cannot believe she has passed away.

My mum was also always cheery and had a wicked sense of humour, and she knew a lot of people, no sooner, I thought I had told everyone, another person pops to mind, or word of mouth has meant lots of people ringing up with condolences. I have also contacted all the relevant authorities, i.e. social services, direct p*y, care agencies, still to ring up on Tuesday, when everything opens again to cancel her appointments, dentists, clinics etc. And once I hear from the Coroner's on Tuesday, have to register the death and organise the funeral. My brothers will help me sort out her flat, and I still have to tell the warden, as she has been on her Easter break.

Prettyxcool you were an amazing daughter and in time you will have lots of happy memories to look back on. Many years ago my father died suddenly at 55 when he was on 2 days leave decorating the hall and just said he had a headache and went to bed and died - I was on my own with him as on my lunch from college. We too had a fabulous relationship but it is the shock of a sudden death that takes a long time to come to terms with before you can start to grieve properly but from the heart it is better that they didn't suffer. Thinking of you and all your family at this sad time.
