I used a voucher to see this today and really enjoyed it.

It's incredibly entertaining with some great one liners, action and performances.
priamia wrote:
curious to know what others thought about the analogy of 'war on terror' used within the film. The fight between Spoc and Cumberbatch on the flying platform in futuristic London was my favourite part

i agree the themes of vengeance and justice were constant throughout the film, but didn't overwhelm it at any point
I saw it in 2D, lots of shaky camera, so not sure I would have liked the 3D version and overall it's great fun, but still falls short of the Star Trek high benchmark Wrath of Khan
I had to mention Khan. Obviously Cumberbatch is revealed not to be John Harrison after all and there's a few nice nods to the past films, but at times it strays into some kind of bad remake or cover version territory... the Kirk in the reactor scene especially had all the beats of the original, but with very little of the impact.
Ps
I thought the Klingons were extremely underused and I didn't much like their new look. I'm gonna stop now before I get too geeky :D
I saw this in 3D on an IMAX screen and whilst I loved the film and it looked fantastic on the larger screen, the 3D wasn't particularly good. But as the film wasn't made in 3D that is only to be expected.

One thing I did notice was that everything was clearly in focus as I was seated smack bang in the middle, however I moved my head to one side to help relieve a stiff neck and noticed everything went very blurry!! I've never had that happen to me before during a 3D film.

Saw this in IMAX 3D and visually I thought it was phenomenal, loved the story and despite some pacing problems probably my favourite film of the year so far. Cumberbatch was perfect casting for his role as well!

Saw it in 2D since I didnt read that many good reviews of the 3D and thought it was great! Great action from start to finish

Absolutely loved it! I didn't have a problem with the 3d but I am a fan of 3d films and I was sitting in the in the middle of the middle (if that makes any sense!) so probably in quite a good spot.

I was never a fan of the original series but I do love the modern franchise. Hope there is more to come. 9/10.

Saw this at the weekend and enjoyed it. It was humorous but very predictable. Did expect more from the trailers so found that a tad disappointed.

I loved this film. I have very little knowledge on Star Trek, I have only seen the last film prior to this one but I enjoyed this so much more than I expected. I enjoyed the Cumberbatch, and Simon Pegg made me giggle.
