Get rid of ink marks on a desk: Spray the ink marks with hair spray and wipe with tissue paper.

Save money on mascara: b*y expensive mascara just once. After it runs out, wash and save the brush. The main difference between mascaras is the wand, not the makeup. Apply new, cheaper mascara with the brush that comes with it, then use your old one to fluff and separate your lashes.

Mise en place: The phrase pronounced MEEZ-ahn-plahss is French and it means, roughly, "to put in place" or more loosely "put everything in its place". Prepare everything needed before to start cooking - this way you will make better food and make cooking more fun.

Bookshelf settings: Make shelves more interesting. Stack books horizontally as well as vertically and add accessories.

Choosing a melon: Here are some tips for picking a tasty melon: First it should be quite heavy. Second, it should smell nice. Third, its skin should be elastic and firm. Finally, pick a female melon (with a beige circle on top).

Newer looking towel: When washing new towels, always add a cup of salt to the water. The salt will set the color so the towels won't fade as quickly.

Master the ten second rule: Whenever you pick up an item in order to add it to your cart or to take it to the checkout, stop for ten seconds and ask yourself why you’re b*ying it and whether you actually need it or not. If you can’t find a good answer, put the item back. This will keep you from making impulse buys on a regular basis.

Burns: Coat the affected area with some egg white. While the egg white is still wet you will feel no pain from the burn. As soon as it dries up and the pain comes back, apply again. This method not only alleviates the pain it actually heals and prevents scarring from the burn.

Keeping wasps away from you: If you are having a drink or eating outside, use an empty tin and put some sugar cubes with a bit of water in it. Put this in the opposite direction and far away from where you're going to sit. That way the wasps will leave you alone as they'll be more interested in the sugar!

Keeping bread soft: Put half an apple in your bread bin and your bread will keep nice and soft! You can also store your biscuits in the same manner.
