Re: The Internship
One of the worst films that I've seen in quite a while. One long infomercial for Google, with a lame plot thrown around it.

Re: The Internship
After The Big Wedding most films are now tolerable for me, even stuff like this. Having plumbed such depths it feels like cinema will never be the same again.

Nope, go ahead, I always mix it up. I think I'm thinking of Gregory Peck, whose grandson is an actor. And then we have Max Irons, who is the son of Jeremy Irons, and Taissa Farmiga, who is the sister of Vera Farmiga.tibba wrote:Hi Caitlin.caitlinmorton wrote:The British guy was Max Minghella, I believe he is the grandson of Anthony Minghella.
Regarding Basingstoke, if you e-mail SFF about it they'll probably send you cinema vouchers!
Hope you don't mind me stating that he's the son, not the grandson, of Anthony Minghella.
So confusing.
Have to say Max Minghella was one of my favorite parts of the film.

Re: The Internship
This film really grew on me. I found the start a little boring and rab, but after the first 10/15 minutes, I really ejoyed the film. I thought the humour was intelligent and was impressed with the performance of Wilson and Vaughn.
Great to see the inside of google too.
7/10 for me.

I think this was better than Wedding Crashers... suited my humour more. I now want to work at Google!

Re: The Internship
the open embracement of the depiction of Google does make you wonder though. I am not sure a film like this would have gone down well at all in the more cynical 90s. I was thinking of Sandra Bullock in Demolition Man singing advertisement ditties without a hint of irony, and we've actually got closer to that gleeful acceptance of advertising today now that being cynical isn't so in fashion. Or perhaps people have just grown too blasé or inundated with scandalous corporations to care anymore but rather accept it as the norm.

I'm not sure another tech company would have worked though, as suggested by another member. Facebook or Apple possibly, but it would have still had the complaints. It's supposed to be something that people want to fight to the death to get in to, and while the job market is hard right now, I'd rather fight for a well-known company in my field than somewhere no one has heard of.

Re: The Internship
mm a fictitious company was the real answer, offering you ample opportunity for wry cynicism at real companies you can refer to at your leisure. That's not going to happen once is a company that can take you to court faster than JK Rowling ever did for an inferred slight.

I really want to work for Google too. How cool were those Japanese inspired nap/rest pods!
I could live without Facebook or Apple, but I really use Google a lot. I do everything on the internet via their search engine. Google is a necessity for me. Possibly why the movie worked for me - because I use and like their products.
